The elderly BE46 signal located on the Down Goods line at Barnetby seen at sunrise on 25th November 2015. This is probably the oldest signal still surviving in the area and controls movements along the Down Goods or into the two reception sidings. Like all the semaphores in the area, this is due for demolition at the end of December 2015. Photo: Ivan Stewart.

New and old signals show the sign of the times. Signals gang is working fast to replaces these old C&O signals. Couple rumors I heard for the fast pace was due to the coming PTC system and also they had hard time with vandals taking the cooper wirer along the tracks.
The pit at Winchcombe has an unfortunate habit of filling with water, a matter which is not helped by the fact that the slope is away from the pump rather than towards it. Whilst giving small prairie, 5542 a bit of a spruce up underneath, I noticed that there were some nice reflections of one of the signals in the water at the bottom of the pit. I had to stand still for a short while to let the ripples die down, but it didn't come out too bad in the end.
The fixed home signal at Kandos, trains must stop here to activate the flashing lights manually, and are permitted to pass the signal if safe to do so, and proceed to the next home signal

Without any local electric noise then is possible to detect thousand of meteors per day. My experiment was to increase the captation as many as possible of those and observe thin and tiny vertical signals. A japanese scientist study the use this meteor detection to mesure the ionosphere and then predict earthquakes!!! This meteors don't leave horizontal trail of air ionization because they have low kinetic energy (low mass, low density or lower velocity). It seems like drops of rain but at 30 times the velocity of bullet! Please look how many captations is possible in just 22 second of recording. Because a damage in the radio receiver this experiment was't finished.
