The School of Science, Technology and Art by William Mountford, (statues by Frederick Pomeroy), William Brown Street 1901.
This was the last of the great buildings of William Brown Street to be completed, in 1901. This is the original entrance in Byrom Street although it also presents a classical facade to William Brown Street where the current entrance to The World Museum has been sited. This facade used to brilliantly close the view from Dale Street (until the Churchill Way South flyover intervened). The basement and lower floors contained the college. The upper floors contained a museum extension (including the horseshoe gallery, which along with the whole building has only recently been brought back into museum usage).
The senior projects for Penn State Harrisburg engineering students are a long-standing tradition, where they are given opportunity to combine classroom learning with real-life applications, as well as collaborate with industry sponsors.

Project: Infant Car Seat Airbag Design for Amish Buggy
Team Members: Raykal Adiansjah, Alan Figueira, Gilberto Lee, Julia Wergeland

The Amish community has lost many children resulting from horse-drawn buggy collisions with automobiles. During a collision, the buggy splinters and the occupants are ejected from the interior — resulting in the infant car seat landing face down and sliding on the ground. Our team integrated a safety airbag to a car seat using computer aided design. In the event of the collision, the airbag deploys over the infant. Analytical calculations were used to estimate the force required to trigger the airbag deployment. Multiple prototypes are developed as a part of build, measure, and learn cycle. A prototype of infant car seat with deployable airbag will be demonstrated at the capstone conference.

This photo shows the entry hall of the doctoral school of Sciences Po. The doctoral school is housed in a beautiful old building around the corner from the main campus, and features a unique type of classroom setup. The doctoral school is small; each of its three floors includes four or five classrooms. Each of these classrooms has the capacity for up to thirty students. The classrooms use freestanding desks that are typically arranged in a circular format to facilitate group work and class discussion. Though I am not a doctoral candidate, I attended several of my class sessions in these rooms because of the suitability of their size and style.
