Sarracenia alata/サラセニア科サラセニア属の多年草。

Sarracenia alata in my front yard bog garden.

As far as I know, this is the first of its kind to be documented from this particular county.

Pale pitcher plant flower bud, Quitman, Wood County, March 2014 New growth at the base of last year's leaves.

Drove to Louisiana by way of Mobile, AL to see a couple pitcher plant bogs around that area. As you can see they were in prime flowering!

A recently burned long leaf pine savannah holds a very healthy pitcher plant bog.

The plants at this site have really wide, bulbous upper pitchers and long, floppy lids that often partially occlude the pitcher opening. They're also much taller than the average S. alata. These pitchers are just starting to open up.
