New Yorkers started a 3-day Climate Hunger Strike outside Governor Cuomo’s Midtown Manhattan office on May 14, 2019 ahead of New York State’s May 16 permitting deadline for the Williams NESE fracked gas pipeline proposed for New York Harbor. The women ranging from ages 21 to 75, are sitting outside the office on a water-only hunger strike from 8am-7pm each day until a decision is made on the pipeline. (Photo by Erik McGregor)
It is time to escalate at FERC. Beyond Extreme Energy (BXE) and Sane Energy Project planned three days of sharing/training, art-building and action from June 23-25. June 23rd was the last of 40 days in the DC national action being organized by the Poor People’s Campaign around the country. Following the demonstration we gathered in the late afternoon for a time of sharing, art-building and getting prepared for action at FERC and elsewhere the morning of Monday, June 25th.
