¿Verdad que quedó simpático? Carmen le puso varios motivos infantiles porque es para un niño y el resultado es así de alegre.

More reverse applique and some regular appliqué added.

This is a sampler worked by S Gilron in 1808 in silk on a cotton or linen background.

SH.1969.112

Samplers were first made in the 1400s or 1500s as a way of remembering different types of stitches or patterns. Over time they evolved into pieces of work made by young girls, proving their knowledge and patience.

The Herbert has over 60 samplers in its collection. With volunteers from NADFAS we have recently completed a project to improve their storage and to make them more accessible. You can see some of the samplers on display at the Herbert in the History Gallery, Connected and in What's in Store.

Not finished, but moving on to a new sampler - on the blog.

Talking about my process and progress on the blog today.

Ho creato per oggi un romantico e delicato Sampler welcome, da crearne un originale pinkeep oppuer un elegantissimo banner.

This sampler quilt was started at a quilting course in 1980. I'd made most of the blocks when we had to pack up the house and move countries. The pieces had been packed away ever since. With my interest in quilting recently reinvigorated, I decided to finally look at it again and finished it in February 2009. Better twenty-nine years late than never!

Week 1 Sampler for Personal Library of Stitches online course. Stitched on aida cloth using DMC threads.

Found this in the Hospice shop today for a quid. Bought it for the montage on the front really but some amusing sounds featured and plummy BBC type voice doing the introductions.

Lapbook Sampler - Side 2: circle book, open

I finished the top, using 10 grey, green and aqua blocks I received in the 4x5 bee! I didn't want a traditional sampler layout, so I made some random blocks (flying geese, some trees, some blocks with strips, hst, etc.) to add an added panels of fabric. I think the result is very lively with lots of movement, maybe just a little busy. What do you think!? This is the only picture that worked, the wind was to strong to get a better one with natural light.
