The most satisfying part f this piece for me were stitching the double rows of Dove's Eyes and Filet Squares. Yay for learning a new stitch.
I can't wait to get started! I added to a fat quarter bundle from Hawthorne threads to make this fun color scheme. 52 weeks two 6.5 blocks a week here I come!
This is my sampler for Lesson 5. It is based on the 'savewater' display garden at the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show by Sustainable Gardening Australia. The 'smartie' tree is based on a sculpture by Lisa Jane Miller. The stitches are listed on my new blog: www.carlseapatch.wordpress.com
Das zylinderförmige Horn wird auf die Oberfläche abgesenkt und feuert beim Kontakt mit der Oberfläche ein kleines Projektil ab. Ausgeworfene Materialien werden über einen Catcher gesammelt.

FUGRO
M.V. FUGRO VENTURER
New generation geophysical & hydrographic survey vessel designed for performance, safety and efficiency.
Fugro Venturer, is the newest evolution of Fugro’s Standard Survey Vessels (FSSV series) built specifically to meet multi-role geophysical survey standards.
The suite of survey equipment includes analogue sensors comprising of hull mounted single and multibeam echo sounders, state of the art sub bottom profilers, a hull mounted Edgetech CHIRP profiler and 2 x 12 cubic inch mini air gun
array and an Edgetech dual frequency 4200
FS digital sidescan sonar.
In complement to this, the vessel is also mobilised with a Hydroscience SeaMUX digital system, comprised of a 1200m HTI solid digital streamer and seismic source of 152 cubic inches, although larger sources and streamers may be mobilized subject to client requirements.
Precise subsea positioning of survey equipment is achieved
EQUIPMENT FLYER via a hull-mounted HiPAP 502 USBL
system. Dual Rx / Dual Swath EM2040 and
a Deep Water EM302 MBES system is fitted to an acoustically efficient gondola.
A 20t traction winch is fitted below decks that
offers sampling in up to 3500m water
depth.
The design of the vessel permits simultaneous analogue/digital survey operations and the capability to also
conduct AUV, ROV, Environmental and Shallow Geotechnical surveys.
The vessel houses a permanent AUV deployment Hangar and is capable of hosting a multitude of ROV platforms.

This is a sampler worked by Elizabeth Taylor, who was born 13th October 1780.
The top third contains the Lord's Prayer and the text of the bottom two thirds reads
'When my short glass its latest sand shall run. And death approach to fright the lookers-on;
Softly may I sigh out my soul in air. Stand thou, my divine guardian angel, there:
Guide and conduct her thro' the milky-way, to the bright regions of eternal day.
If I am right, oh! Teach my heart, still in the right to stay,
If I wrong, thy grace impart to find that better way'.

Samplers were first made in the 1400s or 1500s as a way of remembering different types of stitches or patterns. Over time they evolved into pieces of work made by young girls, proving their knowledge and patience.
The Herbert has over 60 samplers in its collection. With volunteers from NADFAS we have recently completed a project to improve their storage and to make them more accessible. You can see some of the samplers on display at the Herbert in the History Gallery, Connected and in What's in Store.
Sampler, American, early 19th century
Sampler with a border of green garland with roses in each corner, capital letters and numerals and the text "Honour and shame from no condition rise / Act well your / part there all the honour lies" and " Mary Robert Brown / Aged 10 years"
While a Brown family intermarried with the Dyckman family it is not known if Mary Robert Brown was indeed connected to the Dyckman family.
