On the summit of Tryfan with cloud below in the cwm and sunshine shining from the clear sky above me. The result - a brocken spectre with glory. All explicable with science (Google it!) but still magical to an 'umble 'illwalker like me!

Born of the late Roaring Twenties, this luxe touring coupe wore the nameplate “Spectre” in reference to its shadowed face, save for two gleaming gold headlamp “eyes.” A luxury vehicle in every sense, it possessed power and poshness in equal measure.

The sun is shining warmly and the gentle sea breeze caresses gently Lathilda's face. She wears a stunning blue dress, flowing like ocean waves and matching the color of the sea. This summer dress makes her feeling completely in tune with the beauty of the sunny day.

Testing my new Canon EOS 7D.

I think I just bought a monster of a camera :)

"you are a spectre that is everywhere you are not"

In the masjid (mosque) at the Taj Mahal. It was a case of right light and location and just waiting for the right person to walk into view (alas, a little tourist also managed to get into the frame... :-) ).

Pre-flight checks while the deck tractor gets out of the way.

Fun with flashlights in unusually dense fog in the Marin Headlands, just north of the Golden Gate Bridge: my shadow, looking away from the light source.

The fountain in the Gold Coast Regional Botanic Garden as captured with the Spectre camera app on the iPhone.

I'm not sure why the branches at top left are blurred or how long the actual exposure was, but with some practice I think this will be a fun addition to my iPhone.

Made using an editing thing in the Kodak easy share program.

My Brocken Spectre at the north end of The Roaches. I've been waiting nearly forty years for this. The last and only time I'd seen one was on Kinder Edge when I was about twelve. The spectre is my shadow falling on mist, with the sunlight refracting in the mist to cause the halo, or glory. Made my day.

Alias: Spectre

Real name: Jim Baker

Allegiance: hero

Bio: Originally a steel mill employee from Pennsylvania, he was nearly killed when a piece of equipment fell on him in a freak accident. The heat from the equipment miraculously altered his molecular structure instead of killing him, endowing him with the kind of powers he'd read about in comics as a boy. Following the path of his childhood heroes, he decided to fight crime under the name Spectre.

I thought I'd try original superheroes.

After several weeks of modder's block, an essay on an extremely boring book, a project on the 2nd amendment, and New Vegas, I finally got around to making the Italian SMG which was ruined in a certain videogame.

The Brocken spectre (or Brocken bow) is an apparently greatly magnified shadow of an observer cast against mist or cloud below the level of a summit or ridge and surrounded by rainbow coloured fringes resulting from the diffraction of light.
