January 28, 2014 - the day that everything in Atlanta came to a screeching halt. We received 2.6 inches of snow, which isn't much, but due to extremely bad timing and poor decision-making, grid-lock across the metro area led to chaos. People were stranded in their vehicles for over a day, children were stuck on school buses and many had to spend the night in their schools, and neither emergency vehicles nor DOT workers could respond to the weather-related problems. The city shut down for 2 1/2 days, and reminded the entire country that Georgia cannot handle wintery precipitation.
