Konica Autoreflex A3

Sold from 1973 to maybe 1976, the A3 was Konica's "budget" version of the Autoreflex T3. By removing every extra bell and whistle from the T3, you have a 35mm SLR body with a Copal 1/125th flash sync vertical shutter, and TTL metering with exposure needle visible in the viewfinder. Even the focus screen was simplified with just a central micro-prism area and no split-image focusing.

Shown here with a 28mm f:3.5 Hexanon AR medium wide angle lens, the A3 is certainly not as numerous now as the various Autoreflex T models. I was quite pleased to find one as well preserved as this one is.

What a thumbnail.

Happy new year !!

Whoever guesses the song in the background first gets the biggest hug :)

Ignore my face and voice and stuff. I just had to show you :)

OHMYGOSH 9,000 stream views I just noticed LOVEYOU

This year was amazing because of malawi, moving house, turning 17, starting sixth form, realising who I want to be, making amazing friends, rediscovering lost friends, sixth form parties xD, Harry, Sadie getting better and now Bella :)

Today was weird because I've been very very happy about Bella and going out for lunch but verrrry worried about my fool of a boyfriend who I didn't hear from and then got told he was in hospital this morning after an accident last night. He's okay. He didn't actually end up in hospital, but nghh.

I'll upload Bella's pictures tomorrow. It'd feel nice marking the new year, and the start of the 365, that way :) But, they're so pretty and three dimensional! xD

Have a good one flickererrrs :) :) :)

Beirette non-SLR view finder camera.

Actually made the purchases of ST705 and Leicaflex SL in end 2022. Contax S2 was finally decided in 2023 despite price hike (guess it's fate to buy at a higher price).

Previously, ordered ST705 with Fujinon 55mm f1.8 but due to industrial action in UK. Had to cancel the purchase. After a while, I still feel that I want to try another M42 body. So, I bite the bullet to go for the one available from Netherlands. Not sure why I try to clean the viewfinder above the mirror when I received the camera. Saw foam dropping on the floor and on the cleaning cloth. Luckily, the first roll looks without major light leak issue. Though there's blurred lights in some photos, it doesn't show in all photos. Shall continue to monitor. Overall, as first impression, shutter sound is nice. Almost like Leica's damped type. The frame counter window is a bit harder to read. I thought I have only made 7 shots but when I look from another angle, it's 27 shots. The plastic cover on the shutter lever is loose for this camera. Other than that, I don't find any other major issue in using the camera. Only time will tell.

The Leicaflex SL is huge. Was deciding between SL and SL2. However, prices for SL2 are out of reach (because I also have S2 in mind. It's not like there's a cheaper option of S1). Somehow, I won the bidding at a price lower than the other deals I can find. I thought my 28mm Elmarit-R was 2 Cam and hence unable to mount on the SL. It turned out to be working fine and photos are good. Other than the size, the handling is quite a pleasant one. I couldn't believe the shutter sound is different from R6 and I like both sounds. There's no shutter lock (could be non-functioning), so I can press the shutter at any position of the lever. So far, I am pretty pleased with the image quality from the first roll. I hope I can find the answer to the question of do camera bodies matter or will there be diference among different camera bodies even from the same manufacturer.

As mentioned, S2 was the last bullet that I have decided to bite. I have stopped GAS of acquiring more lens as there's hardly anymore storage space and frankly, I already have more than I need. The GAS is still strong for getting more fully mechanical SLRs as backup to the good ones I already have. Of course, the curiosity on the performance of other camera bodies does play a part as well. Combined with supporting reasons of goods and services tax hikes in this and next years, imposed taxes for online purchases this year and finally, recent inflation in vintage cameras, the deal simply has to be made. I have yet to finish the first roll, so I cannot comment on the image quality. So far, the weirdest handling experience would be focusing the viewfinder. There's no line in the center to align the focus, unlike FX-3 Super. That's ok since SRT101 doesn't have a line too. What's strange is sometimes the area outside the centre circle is partly sharp or blur. I get confused in focusing the centre circle or the area outside. Other than this, handling of the S2 so far feels good and smooth.

To compare among the three, I would say SL gives the most addictive feeling. Walking around with the SL and ST705 feels like a rhythmic dance.

As time goes by, I like the stock SLR more and more! I don't know about you, but the cas has grown on me :)
