These images were made during a journey down Rustic Road 32 in Marinette County on June 24, 2017.

R-32, Wisconsin’s longest rustic road, offers a 37-mile journey through several county parks and the Peshtigo River State Forest. The route features multiple species of hardwoods and conifers, along with numerous granite boulders and outcroppings. R-32 also offers vistas of the Thunder and Peshtigo rivers.

Wisconsin's Rustic Roads system was created to preserve many of the state's scenic, lightly traveled country roads. Features of Rustic Roads include rugged terrain, native vegetation and wildlife, or open areas with agricultural vistas.

I thought this was an interesting composition using these farm buildings to provide rustic interest with the tiles with the sheep grazing to soften the image, the trees either side, the patches of heather leading up to the craggy limestone gorge of Winnats pass. All in all, a pleasing scene.

In this case, rustic means "exploding".

These images were made during a journey down Rustic Road 34, located in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, in Forest County on June 21, 2017.

R-34 leads east of the village of Alvin through a heavily wooded area, including a 50-year-old pine plantation.

Old, Rustic Barn. January 20 2014. Northeast WI.

A rustic accent to a local farm, no longer in use but an interesting visual attraction to the farm-oriented landscape. Again, caught only one usable image as we passed through the countryside.

Note the blur of the raindrops clearly seen near the top of the image.

Rustic Falls. The Glen Creek plunges 47 feet over volcanic rock to from this falls.

This piece sits beside the fireplace in a rental cottage near Alliston, Ontario. There were several quirky pieces of art about. The blue eyes were especially penetrating by firelight and my nieces were both of the opinion that it was extremely creepy. I fully expect that if I had spent the night I would have woken in the night several times to discover that it had changed position. :)
