We have been participating in bird week by conducting backyard bird surveys for BirdLife Australia. We did one in this location and counted 9 royal spoonbills and other species.

Hello my amazing Flickr friends !!

Today is a red day at Color my World Daily and the theme at Macro Mondays is royal. I decide to go with my tiny play cards (about 0,78 mm of hight). I have a royal hungover from my welcome back party for my son (see my yesterday’s post). I have to go to my office today and it is the solar eclipse. I honestly don’t know how I will handle all of that with a huge hangover … I keep my fingers crossed and I have my solar eclipse glasses with me (my husband got me one pair so I’m lucky since they are impossible to get anywhere near Montreal). Should I take my camera to the office ? I don’t know … I had some polish doughnuts and way too much alcohol yesterday (my Dad makes the best Spanish coffee in Montreal !!!). each time I ask myself : why I’m not a classy lady ??? And why I don’t stop before it is too late ? Well, at 51 years old, I still don’t know and I have no self control. Do I regret it ? NO ! Will I do it again ? YES ! I’m pretty much sure there is another party coming on very, very soon…And I ask myself : how do royal families treat hungover situations ?

Mucho, mucho amor for you my friends !!

Thank you so much for all your lovely comments / favs/ general support / happy thoughts!! Stay safe and well!! And see you soon on Flickr !

The Royal Oratory is a late Gothic gallery in St. Vitus Cathedral, built around 1490 for King Władysław Jagiellończyk to attend liturgy with his court. It connects the royal residence to the cathedral through a porch that still exists today, despite later reconstruction. Architecturally, it draws inspiration from Peter Parler's style and features a tripartite vault and a suspended keystone. The richly decorated balustrade includes twisting Gothic motifs, small figurines, and coats of arms representing the king’s territories. The oratory is attributed to the architect Benedikt Ried.

Occupied and developed as a Royal residence from the mid 18th century onwards by George, the Prince of Wales, who later became the Prince Regent. Now a museum.

This Royal spoonbill (Platalea regia) was spotted on a fallen tree beside a creek on a local farm. They are not considered to be endangered, but they aren't a common sight where I live, so this shot was a real catch for me.

The Royal spoonbill lives in wetlands and feeds on crustaceans, fish and small insects by sweeping its bill from side to side in the water. It always flies with its head extended.

The Royal Court (Curtea Domnească) monuments ensemble in Târgovişte, Romania, built in the 15th century. Ruler Mircea the Old is the founder of the royal residence, with construction works launched around 1400 and finalized in 1476. The museum includes the Royal Residence, the Great Royal Church, the Small Royal Church and the Chindia Tower. Only the ruins can now be seen of the Royal Residence, its gardens and fountains. The Great Royal Church still boasts its frescoes with portraits of Wallachian rulers, and a cannonball stuck in its walls, in testimony of past wars. In the Small Royal Church, visitors can see interesting pottery work and the oldest church porch in the country, built concurrently with the church in the 16th century. Today I submitted these images to the Royal Photographic Society Associate Distinctions panel and had them accepted. It was a bit nerve wracking but I've learnt a lot . All the images made over the last couple of years with the Hasselblad 501 and Portra. I wanted to thank everyone who has encouraged and supported me with these, thank you.

As a committed republican there is some joking but such is life.

Mick asked to see my Statement of Intent so here is what I submitted from watching the assessment process I'd say it is quite important to give this some thought, here's my effort.

I have played, walked and just stood still in woods since childhood.

I have sought to portray my local woodlands, all within 20 miles of my home in Leeds, through the seasons. My aim in this collection is to invite the viewer to contemplate the changing colour, texture and forms of these places.

Yorkshire is not known for its wooded areas; coast, moor and dales, yes – woods, no. Yet, hidden in the very steep-sided river valleys which cut through the moors of West and North Yorkshire are wild woods. Largely untouched by humans, these old woods cling precariously to their slopes.

I have tried to embrace the interwoven and intricate patterns of these wild woods as they change, in all their complexity.

This is the other type of Crabapple tree I have with the official name of "Royal Raindrops." I decided to do a macro shot of this one in full bloom and try to get some good bokeh. The flowers are really this vivid - I did not touch the saturation. I look forward to this one blooming each spring the most.

The Royal Canadian Mint's facility in Winnipeg, designed by local architect Etienne Gaboury, produces billions of coins each year. This is where ALL Canadian circulation coins are made, as well as those for over 60 governments all around the world. A fascinating guided tour overlooking the state-of-the-art manufacturing facility reveals the precise art, craft, and science of coin-making!

Only one complaint, can not take a picture!

The building is located in the center of Sweden's capital Stockholm in the borough of Norrmalm, on the eastern side of Gustav Adolfs torg across from the former Arvfurstens Palats, now Ministry for Foreign Affairs. It lies on the north side of the Norrström river and is connected to the Royal Palace through the Norrbro bridge.

All kings and queens are not born of royal bloodlines. Some become royal because of what they do once they realize who they are.

The pièce de résistance of bridges in the Berwick-Upon-Tweed area of the UK is the Royal Border Bridge which was built between 1847 and 1850 to carry train traffic. It was the last link in the east coast rail line from London to Edinburgh. It is a gently curved 28-arch bridge that is 659 meters in length and carries trains 37 meters above the River Tweed. The bridge is constructed in masonry with brickwork soffits that form the underside of the arches and is covered by stone cladding. 15 of of the arches are over land south of the river while 13 are over the river itself. It is considered by many to be one of the finest railway viaducts in the world.
