"....I wondered if Rowan Atkinson and Mr. Beans the same person. I guess not the same person. what do we see Mr. Beans on the show will be different from Rowan Atkinson fighting for her best work, these are two extraordinary individuals in one body. Like a gold coin in two different sides..."

Here we see Whoopi Goldberg and Rowan Atkinson as Mr Bean. Neither of whom have performed here, I assume. Murals by street artist Zabou.

I'd really loved Rowan Atkinson's earlier TV work when he was one of a group of alternative, satirical comedians shaking up British TV comedy at the beginning of the 1980s. Shows like Not The Nine O'Clock News and Blackadder felt completely fresh, original and the antithesis of the tired, smug sitcoms that were the standard comedy fare of the time.

But a decade later I was more than disappointed when Mr Bean came along. Gone were the razor sharp comedy lines; instead it was all sight gags and 'funny faces'. Not my thing. I didn't watch it, even when it became a huge hit.

It took having kids to change my mind. Somehow Mr Bean wriggled his way into my kids' TV viewing (blame the YouTube algorithm) and they instantly loved him. Sight gags, funny faces, the whole lot.

And watching them watching Bean, I suppose my view of him changed. I began to appreciate his genius. He is the personification of British social embarrassment, and embarrassment is the wellspring for so much comedy goodness.

So it was nice to see this new mural on Brick Lane. It's Bean in his early nineties prime. I look at him and immediately think of what is perhaps his finest hour: the Steak Tartare sketch.

Looking like a Bond villains mountain top eyrie this is the summit of the Aiguille du Midi (Needle of the South)

Look carefully and you can see the cables for the Téléphérique de l'Aiguille du Midi, which was built in 1955. This cable car carries 65 passengers 1.8 miles without any support pillar, to the upper station at 3,777 m where there are viewing platforms, a shop and Europes highest restaurant.

I believe it is a location in the latest "Johnny English" film.

Rewatched this recently, just had to throw in a build as well.

On this, the day of Eat Your Beans, it's hats off to all sorts of beanery.

There's the tins of Heinz beans; the coffee beans (albeit ground up and dissolved) in my cup; the classic "Beano album" by John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers, so called because Eric Clapton is reading a Beano comic in the album cover photo; and the The Who Sell Out album from 1967 in which lead singer Roger Daltrey is literally covered in Heinz beans.

And of course, photobombing in the corner is British comedian Rowan Atkinson as the ever awkward Mr. Bean.

I grew up eating beans on toast for our main supper at least once, sometimes twice, a week. Beans were cheap then as was bread. Sometimes we even had scrambled eggs or pork chops with them as well. And it was all accompanied by huge amounts of tea.

The Bluesbreakers Beano album is a classic 1966 album featuring John Mayall on keyboards and vocals, Eric Clapton on guitar, John McVie on bass (later he was the Mac in Fleetwood Mac) and Hughie Flint on drums who went on to form McGuinness Flint a few years later.

The Who Sell Out was a mediocre album by Who standards. It was highlighted by two great songs however, I Can See for Miles and John Entwistle's quirky Boris the Spider.

Mr. Bean has been a huge success around the world largely because of the limited dialogue thus making it universal in appeal. One finds that people either love or hate Bean. I am ambivalent as I much prefer his witty and excellent Blackadder series.

A fantastic piece of street art found on a security shutter on London's famous Brick Lane. This incredible monochrome mural by artist Benzi Brofman features the unlikely but brilliant pairing of surrealist artist Salvador Dalí and the iconic comedic character Mr. Bean (played by Rowan Atkinson). Brofman's detailed portrait work captures the distinct expressions of both figures, set against a vibrant blue graphic background. This piece is a perfect example of the world-class and often humorous street art that makes Brick Lane a must-visit destination.

This car once belonged to the hapless Mr Bean, played by Rowan Atkinson, and featured in the character’s third television comedy series. It made its first television appearance on 1st January 1991. In this episode, Mr Bean discovers he does not have enough change for the multi-storey car park ticket machine and tries to outwit the exit barrier. On another occasion, Mr Bean oversleeps, becoming late for his dental appointment, and deftly manages to dress whilst driving the Mini to the surgery.

In real life, Rowan Atkinson is an accomplished historic racing car driver. He is one of only a handful of people trusted to demonstrate the awesome 1933 24-litre Napier-Railton Brooklands racer.

This photo might give the impression that I am somehow related to a legendary Captain Edmund Blackadder, pictured here from the television series Blackadder Goes Forth. In reality, there is no relationship between me and Captain Blackadder, a character portrayed by the brilliant actor Rowan Atkinson. I just wanted to stick pencils up my nose and put underpants on my head.
