Long John Silvers/A&W

1180 S Babcock St., Melbourne, FL

Originally opened as a Long John Silvers restaurant in 1976. Sometime in the 2000's an A&W was added here and the building was given some minor renovations.

This was the only interior picture I managed to get, and it was as I was about to walk out the door. The sign and that bell looked pretty old, which is why I took this picture. The place was pretty crowded for the free root beer floats, so interior pictures would have been hard to get, especially in such a tiny space. Like I mentioned before, the dining room is small (and dark as well), and pretty much all of it is A&W 50's diner themed decor (the drive-in murals, retro looking jukebox) with a few LJS posters thrown in. It also feels really old in here.

It has finally arrived! Well, I guess it didn't take that long, but I've been wanting this for months so it seems like forever. I saw it in San Francisco and decided to just buy it when I got home, from the Betsey Johnson store my friend works at. Then I decided to wait until it went on sale, but that seemed like it was never going to happen. So, the other day I was looking online and came across it on clearance for only $26!!!! hehehe, that's quite the deal since this bag has a 90-some-dollar price tag.

I'll be honest

I'll be real

I'd be dead

If words could kill

Though you left me in the cold

I'd still make your root beer float

I'll still make you a root beer float...

Who doesn't like a root beer float on a hot summer night? St. Martins Fair in Franklin, WI

At this 50's inspired themed Bat-Mitzvah, Jukebox centerpieces sat atop the tables, with clusters of balloons and a mylar musical note helium filled balloon, floated above the centerpiece. This RI Bat-Mitzvah, by Gold Events was held at Temple Emanu-el in Providence, RI, just south of the Boston, MA area.

Along with the centerpieces each Kosher food station, was beautifully catered to the theme of the 50's. With signs for each food station of Pizza, burgers, fries, and hot dogs, the guests enjoyed this 50's inspired theme.

Tables were adorned with neon colored linens and napkins, with the kids table having an arch of clear Linc-O-Loon balloons, going from a giant hairspray bottle to a blue haired centerpiece.

Guests were also treated to a soda fountain, complete with milk shakes, , rootbeer floats, and cabinets ( a real RI treat!)

The bar area had a sign made with rope lighting. The sign-in board, was made with real record albums, and the guests signed with silver sharpies.

guests were asked to dress for the theme, and everyone rocked out to 5o's tunes. Even the photographer wore jeans, a leather jacket and slicked back hair! it was great!

Me Again Monday 2012, Week 20, "Oops, I did it again."

We strive to eat properly and avoid sweets until the weekend (key word, strive). So, during the weekend we'll indulge in a favorite chocolate candy, or I'll make chocolate chip cookies, and then maybe top it off with a premium ice cream. Too often, I must admit, my wife and I engage in the following conversation as we settle in for a movie:

She: Do you want some ice cream?

Me: No, I'll pass. I had enough sweets today. [said in a tone suggesting that I have will power and you don't]

Too often, after she has gone to bed, I break down and crack open that ice cream. Quietly.

I enjoy root beer floats, but with chocolate ice cream, even with cheap, "non-premium" root beer.

Our third stop on Day 9 of my Colorado vacation was Lookout Mountain Park which is where Buffalo Bill' Cody's grave is located, as well as the Buffalo Bill Museum. We couldn't resist Rootbeer floats at the gift shop. In Golden, CO.

It's new and it's hard to find but they have them over in the 7-11 by Todd's work. He kept talking about how awesome it is. So last Friday I told him there were only three things I wanted in life (at this moment) that would bring me total happiness, bliss and inner peace: a big, juicy hamburger, a root beer float, and a 20 minute orgasm.

I got the burger Friday night. I got the float last night.............

Yes, A&W does still serve root beer floats in frosted mugs inside the restaurant. If you want a frosted mug to go you have to pay an extra $5 to take the mug home.
