Jasper and his friends Roger Rabbit and Lemur have a bit of cabin fever. It's still too hot to do anything outside so they're stuck indoors. Bored.
This is a very typical evening scene for us. Jasper draped over the ottoman, this time on top of Roger Rabbit. I love the way his points his back toes on the floor, as if to add a bit of class to his pose. You know, because the Ottoman Emperor needs to be classy
Having recovered from surgery for severe belly lacerations, Roger Rabbit is back in action. This is so typical for Jasper. He'll set the toy on the edge of the couch and then rest his chin on it, starting at us until we make a move. He's predictable and lovable.
After a rousing chase with Roger Rabbit, Ottoman Emperor Jasper perches on his throne with Roger, his minion, resting comfortably on the floor.
Poor Roger has been with us almost 3 years. He's almost still recognizable as a rabbit 😜

Roger Rabbit often gets carried around by his foot because, a) everyone knows that rabbits' feet are lucky, and b) there is a squeaker in each foot. This is a recipe for awesome evening fun.
...Until he wasn't. Jasper performed surgery on Roger Rabbit on Saturday. Roger looked good. Felt good. Then Jasper started Roger's...uh..."physical therapy". 😱 (see first comment) Therapy consisted of vigorous shaking and running through the house. Sometimes dropping Roger for the human's to toss. By Sunday afternoon there was a trail of Roger guts through the house. So Roger is in the infirmary again, waiting on a more competent seamster. Fun while it lasted though. 😜
repainted jessica rabbit doll, made from a singing snow white. her eyes were very strongly molded so that i had to reshape them. i really like how she turned out even though i am no jessica rabbit fan at all, haha. her make up has a mettalic touch to it and i added glitter to the eyelids. the repaint was done with acrylics and pastels. (:
Over the weekend, my wife Jean, the piano teacher / trauma surgeon stitched up two of Jasper's friends. Freshly released from the infirmary, they came calling on Jasper in the Ottoman Empire where they were declared fit for play. Good to have Roger Rabbit and Whale back in the game.
Poor Roger Rabbit has been in the infirmary for such a long time, that Jasper decided to take matters into his own paws and perform surgery to mend Roger's lacerated belly. Roger is in recovery and doing well :-)
And just when we were starting to have fun, the humans announce it' s time for bed.
Fear not Jasper, Roger Rabbit will be there tomorrow.
Dr. Mom (aka, Jean, my wife) has the week off work so she found some time to perform surgery on Roger Rabbit. Oh my, what joy! Jasper ran around the house all night with Roger, showing him to us. Dropping him at our feet. Shaking him vigorously (presumably to help set the stitches properly). And of course Roger Rabbit took his rightful place on the Ottoman Empire with Jasper. We both (humans) found ourselves laughing because Jasper was clearly so delighted. In the first comment, I've pasted some fond memories of Roger Rabbit from the past 2 years. We've been through a lot together.
It was a pretty rough surgery on Roger. I kept hearing my wife say things like, "Ow!...Dang it!... Ohhhhh!...Jeez...Uh, poked myself. Arrrgh!" These are all things I never want to hear from my own surgeon should surgery on me ever be necessary 😜

Using the banana piece as the hair was a no-brainer. In fact, it was the piece that ignited the whole idea for this MOC. It took me several redesigns to make his pants look baggy enough. When I finished Roger, I was looking to add a fun accessory. Maybe a hammer? But then I remembered the funny handcuff scene with Eddie Valiant! :)

No, not at any time, only when it was funny.
This build had some fun challenges. How do I make the hands? How do I make the bow tie (sorry folks, no yellow polka dots) and how do I attach it?
I'm very pleased with the final result. He looks so goofy!

Nothing makes Jasper happier than hanging out with his bestie in the Ottoman Empire. Jasper loves Roger Rabbit, but I'm afraid Roger is in the infirmary again, having been eviscerated over the weekend. That soft and vulnerable underbelly proved too enticing for Jasper Saturday evening as his humans slumbered on the couch, oblivious.

Oh happy day! My parents visited us over the weekend and my mom, having spent her career as a registered nurse, did a bit of surgery on Roger Rabbit, complete with skin grafts and long sutures. Once recovered, Roger of course made a visit to Jasper's Ottoman Empire for a bit of play.
It was fun to watch how much Jasper expressed his personality with my parents' visit. They visit every year and he was quite excited to have them stay. Extra humans to play! Though, both my parents are in their 80s so they don't have quite the play stamina of an excited Aussie. But a fun time was had by all.
