A couple returning from an extended walk beside the high bluffs north of Pescadero Beach encounter rising waters. A short, well timed dash around the critical corner gets them back to higher and drier land.

Castle Rising near King’s Lynn in Norfolk, England. One of the best castles we visited - Mitchell thoroughly enjoyed exploring the grounds while the 13th century castle offered fantastic spaces to capture in the camera and in the imagination...

What would it be like to pass Stonehenge by boat? Come the cold dawn in some far away time long after man has destroyed himself and only a few remain. The polar caps are no more and the snow's the remnants of a diminishing nuclear winter. Will life again take hold or will the mark of the Ancients survive us all?

After the drag of driving home from work in the Midlands with the heavy traffic on a Friday evening it was great to get out with the camera to capture the sunset at my local harbour at Langstone, Hayling Island.

The tide was very low when I arrived but the water soon started to flow in as you can see in the bottom right of the image, interesting colours in the sky reflecting on the partially calm water - it was joy to be outside and enjoy the beauty of last of the days light!

Early morning mists burning away over Haweswater.

Scottsdale's Reflection Rising is designed by Patrick Shearn. Shearn's worldwide installations compel viewers to slow down and follow the undulating movement of the artwork, which appears to hand in thin air.

Stretching for three football fields along the Scottsdale Waterfront, “Reflection Rising” is the latest large-scale project commissioned by Scottsdale Public Art. Made of thousands of nylon streamers designed to take the air like a kite.

From the surrounding walkways, views of the rippling sculpture will emerge in the reflective surface of the canal, evoking the colors of the sunset. At the Soleri Bridge Plaza, the piece will rise and fall in graceful waves, casting dappled shade and sunlight on those gathered below. The custom-designed work was installed Nov. 13 and will soar above the waterfront, illuminating much of the Arizona Canal through March 2018.

I tried to get the sun closer, but perhaps for my camera or I do not know why, I did not like the result, so for this day it was enough for this other photo of the sunrise.

But you will see the next day it was different, it was pretty ok close, and still do not know why.

Full moon rising over Sacramento, and my very last project (that hulk of steel and concrete). When the project is done, so am I.

Rising moon over the old house at Craigforth from the Elie and Earlsferry golf course.

Or was it a good moon rising?

The full moon over the mesas of Canyonlands National Park, Utah, United States of America.

This shot was made just after the clouds had obscured a sunset. Just as I was about to kick rocks on my way back to camp after another disappointing cloudy day, I looked up and saw the glow of the moon coming from around the bluff. I'm thinking, what the heck? The clouds parted for about 10 minutes which allowed me to shoot this scene like a super model. :)

Some day I will get a good long lens for these shots, but until then I'll have to put up with taking shots like this. ;)

Please check out the last shot that I posted if you haven't seen it yet. It's a rare day when I get to shoot a rainbow, let alone one reflecting in water. :)

Thank you so much for all of the great comments since I've been back. It took the bulk of the morning to sort through and reply to emails before I could even start to think about work. I hate vacations... Umm, I mean I hate returning from vacations. :)
