This RC car addiction is getting serious ;)

Testing a lighting setup for some product work & the HPI Racing Micro RS4 snuck on as a test subject :P

The detail on the HPI Racing shells for Micro RS4 chassis cars is awesome & they are so much fun, just small enough to enjoy indoors as well as outdoors.

I've joined that RC lifestyle ;)

Always wanted a remote controlled car so finally went & got hold of a HPI Racing Sprint 2 Drift package from RadShape RC & this Rx7 is my first ever go at a custom shell, enjoyed making it :D

The tee shirt on show here is the newest release by 'Status Error' & its geared up for RC people with a fresh design across it :) Love it!

You can grab your own & more of their awesome merch from here.

@juss_bricks transformed the Hennessey Venom F5 Revolution into the original record-breaking F5, removing the aggressive rear wing and dialing in the details to match the real-world speed legend. Built entirely out of LEGO Technic, this model captures the sleek lines and raw performance DNA of the fastest car on the planet. Fully remote controlled, it’s not just for display—it moves with power and precision. Honoring the spirit of the F5, this build is all about top speed and clean design.

It's time for the Lego City 2015 advent calendar.

I count at least three layers of indirection between the Lego set here and the original horrific World War Two reality that the orignal toy represents:

* real life soldiers injured by war

* cheap plastic army men toys, sold by the bucket, for kids to act out battles in their playrooms & backyards

* expensive computer animated movie depicting the bucket of cheap plastic army men come to life in a cartoon kid's house

* cheap (compared to movie production or real life warfare) or expensive (compared to original cheap plastic army men or to Mega Bloks) Lego replica of the movie replica of the toy replica of the battlefield carnage

You can't help but wonder if someone was going for a toy industry record here.

For Macro Mondays--This week's theme is "Revolution" and I chose to show how things look when they are revolving in motion.

My boys love RC cars and it's a real pleasure to watch them play. Fastest laps, drag races, obstacle courses and lots of 'I'm better than you' ...

Rewarron's first full test day

And of course I find out about this right after Christmas. Now I have to wait for birthdays for a good excuse to get one "for the kids".

For Macro Mondays--This week's theme is "Revolution" and I chose to show how things look when they are revolving in motion.

i didn't leave the house yesterday or the day before onaccounta some snow.

so i got to play a little bit with this remote-conrolled Mach Five that my sister gave me for Christmas. (i also got a bendy Trixie from another sister. yay!)

and played a little bit more with the Polaroid SX-70. i have had a bit of a hard time with it because of a filter issue, but i think i've got that more or less figured out now and i'm way excited about that because i love this camera.

Even though I already own the Playstation 2 version, I asked for the Nintendo DS version of Ferrari Challenge: Trofeo Pirelli for my birthday (October 2nd), and received it.

I didn't actually have a Nintendo DS at the time, but was going to get one sooner or later, and receiving the game was the final push I needed to get one. I was originally just going to buy a used non-Lite Nintendo DS (a.k.a. "Nintendo DS Phat", as in "fat"), since they can be had for well below $100, but the temptation to get a crimson red DS Lite to compliment the Ferrari game was too tempting for me to resist spending a few dozen more dollars.

It occurred to me as I was walking to the Merivale Road EB Games store that I could further accentuate the handheld Ferrari experience with an ultra-minimalist custom job: just stick a couple of stickers from the free 2008 Shell Ferrari Motorsport sticker set (which can be obtained here, no credit card required).

For this shot, I put the DS on my 1/16th scale radio-controlled Ferrari F430 from Silverlit against a backdrop of my oil pastel drawing of a Ferrari F430.

The DS version of Ferrari Challenge: Trofeo Pirelli "doesn't even compare" to the PS2 version, obviously (I haven't played the PS3 version), but the graphics still are nice and smooth for a handheld, the handling is as accurate as you can get with the old-fashioned plus-shaped d-pad, and I can't play the PS2 version on the bus or in the waiting room of the Ottawa General Hospital.

I had a few minutes to shoot between races so I thought I'd pull my flash and camera out.

It would have looked a bit cooler if it was clean :)

This was taken at the 2015 Autosport International Show at the Birmingham NEC.

Amusingly, these little remote controlled cars were used for carrying stuff from one place to another - discus, for example!

Day 7, & I'm guessing this car doesn't need much introduction :) but for those that don't know this hero, its the amazing Caterham R500! I won't fill this description with facts & figures on the car (as much as I want to, that's what google is for hehe).

So I was given this remote controlled car version of the R500 last Christmas (from my mummy :) lol) & it sits up on one of my shelves looking all friendly like most Caterhams do, so I thought I'd try & give it an evil twist, hopefully this has come across in the picture... grrr menacing! hehe

Used a strobe & a huge piece of black card to achieve this, as well as of course the Canon 60mm Macro lens hehe :D

The Caterhams themselves have played quite a large part in my life in the past few years, firstly my family owns one of the cars, my father to be exact & he rents it out as part of his business, I've had a cheeky drive or two in it since its been in his ownership of course... the Nurburgring could have been involved at one point also ;) but anyway I'm side tracking...

Secondly, & on a much more important level to me, Caterham the company itself has given me some fantastic opportunities in the past, allowing me to do photography work for them & help get my name out there, so a huge thank you goes out to the entire team there, you will not meet a crazier group that make up what is basically a car dealership hehe, nutters :D

So there you have it, this little car represents a lot to me :)
