I have some cloud captures stacked up and this is a clouds and sky series. I am all about the skies and this sky looks like I will get whacked. I could get wet if I linger under this cloud. I was down at Golden Ponds when I shot this and I find that cloud shots work well toward open space over the ponds. In reality, I saw this sky when I got out of my truck down at the rec area and I had the long zoom attached but I managed to crank it as wide as I could and captured this composition. I bet there will be some future scene that a sky like this would improve. I have been by here often and I happened to notice this sky as I was on my way and thought it would be a good shot as I would have to give up as soon as it controlled the remaining light and I didn't bring a grocery bag to throw over the camera. I guessed this was another dandy storm to pump and send out east. I hope it targets the Faux News climate exsquirts. Studies have proved their listeners know a great deal less about current events than those who watch nothing. For instance, science aside, what troubled weather do you see coming along. Enjoy the Tightie Rightie's "no global warming!" They want all black clouds. Time to pump carbons into the atmosphere even though they preach China and India won't work to cut carbon. Guess what, China and India are working at a blazing pace to cut carbon emissions. Not the Kochs nor our Righites.

I was again thinking about the wind mill shot and that skies are often a good subject, a'la Foghat. That is when I thought of just sky within just sky for a series. I found some skies, two of them recent, that stand up well just as skies without tricks. As always, you are invited to download any of my skies at original upload size, if you need one when your sky has no intention of cooperating. I can make a .TIFF (not all) available that is up to 5 times larger. Check out my skies in my photo set or any of mine in the "Clouds and sky group." I have taken advantage of my skies in my shots that had unfortunate skies. I replace bad skies in a few instances. A mellow or powerful sky can often make or break a scene.

On my travels around the UK by car for three weeks with my son. June/July 2019 England.

Walking around Windsor on a lovely Sunday morning.

I forgot to change the date on my camera so it is was still in NZ time.

The Monasterio Real de San Lorenzo de El Escorial (usually known simply as El Escorial) was built during the reign of King Felipe II between 1563 and 1584, the architects being Juan Bautista de Toledo and then Juan de Herrera. The ground plan of this UNESCO-listed World Heritage Site resembles a gridiron, on which the martyr San Lorenzo was supposed to have been roasted to death. Considered to be one of the greatest masterpieces of the Spanish Renaissance, it combines various functions: palace, monastery and royal pantheon (all of Spain's kings from Carlos V onwards lie here, with two exceptions). Located at over 1,000 metres above sea level, it apparently includes 16 patios, 15 cloisters, 88 fountains, 13 small chapels, 86 stairs, nine towers, 1,200 doors and 2,673 windows; in other words, it is vast. Severe and sober are the adjectives that spring to mind when viewing this somewhat intimidating building. The well-tended formal gardens on two of its sides do help to relieve the austerity, however.

This is Cannon Beach, Oregon. Just South of the main Haystack Rock formation. These are the rocks in the other photographs that I am calling the head of the cartoon characters. The purple Hue is true to what was actually occurring at this point in time. It didn't last long. I only have 4 shots that look like this then things started getting dark.

Thank U all for the kind words!

Reigning Grace arrives at the Hyatt Regency in search of Crystal - who is late to the Welcome Cocktail Party...again.

What's this? A "Do Not Disturb" Sign on Crystal's Hotel Room?

......

Uhmmmm, she stayed longer than usual in her box but she's free now.

I love her, one of the best 2015 dolls IMHO.

The Grade I Listed Peterborough Cathedral, in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire.

It has been the site of church since 655 when one of the first centres of Christianity in central England known simply as Medeshamstede was founded during the reign of the Anglo-Saxon King Peada of the Middle Angles.

In 966 a Benedictine Abbey was created out of the former church by Athelwold, Bishop of Winchester. The Abbey survived battles between local folk-hero Hereward the Wake and the Norman invaders, but was destroyed by an accidental fire in 1116. Due to this it was rebuilt into the modern building between 1118-1237 in the Norman style.

The church houses many relics including the arm of St Oswald, two pieces of swaddling clothes which wrapped the baby Jesus, pieces of Jesus' manger, a part of the five loaves which fed the 5,000, a piece of the raiment of St Mary, a piece of Aaron's rod, and relics of St Peter, St Paul and St Andrew - to whom the church is dedicated.)

In 1541, following Henry VIII's Dissolution of the Monasteries all of the church's relics were lost but the church survived by being selected as the cathedral of the new Diocese of Peterborough. This may have been related to the fact that Henry's former queen, Katherine of Aragon, had been buried there in 1536.

In 1587, the body of Mary, Queen of Scots, was also buried here after her execution at nearby Fotheringhay Castle, but it was later removed to Westminster Abbey on the orders of her son, King James I of England.

The Sultan Abdul Samad Building (Malay: Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad; Jawi: باڠونن سلطان عبدالصمد) is located in front of the Dataran Merdeka (Independence Square) and the Royal Selangor Club, by Jalan Raja in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The structure takes its name from Sultan Abdul Samad, the reigning sultan of Selangor at the time when construction began.

The building houses the offices of the Ministry of Information, Communications and Culture of Malaysia (Malay: Kementerian Penerangan, Komunikasi dan Kebudayaan Malaysia). It formerly housed the superior courts of the country: the Federal Court of Malaysia, the Court of Appeals and the High Court of Malaya. The Federal Court and the Court of Appeals had shifted to the Palace of Justice in Putrajaya during the early 2000s, while the High Court of Malaya shifted to the Kuala Lumpur Courts Complex in 2007.

It was designed by A.C. Norman and built in 1894-1897 to house several important government departments during the British administration. A.C. Norman spent time in Africa and saw Muslim mosques in India which led him to use Mughal architecture in the building's design. The 41-meter tower chimed for the first time to coincide with Queen Victoria’s Jubilee Parade in 1897 and has chimed since.[1] The building, simply known as Government Offices in early Kuala Lumpur maps, housed the Federal Secretariat of the then-Federated Malay States which was formed in 1896.

In 1945, when World War II ended, Britain resumed control again, but Malaya's independence movement had matured and organized itself in an alliance under Tunku Abdul Rahman. When the British flag was finally lowered in Kuala Lumpur's Merdeka Square in 1957, Tunku became the first prime minister of Malaya.[2]

In front of the building is the Dataran Merdeka (or Merdeka Square). It was here, the Union Jack flag was lowered and the Malayan flag hoisted for the first time at midnight on August 31, 1957. The Dataran Merdeka was officially opened on January 1, 1990, in conjunction with Visit Malaysia Year 1990.

Before independence in 1957 the Merdeka Square symbolized British sovereignty as it was a cricket ground for the colonial administrators and fronted the Royal Selangor Club, Malaya's most exclusive whites-only club.

A 95-metre flagpole, one of the tallest in the world, marks that spot with a flat, round black marble plaque. It is located at the southern end of the square.

Every year, in the morning of Merdeka Day (31 August) as well as Malaysia Day (16 September), thousands of spectators converge on the city to watch the colourful parade along the streets of the city and performances held at the Merdeka Square. Each of the 13 states plus the Federal Territories are represented, as are the many ethnic groups that comprise multiracial Malaysia. The National Flag will be flown throughout the country, at office buildings, private homes and on vehicles. At the same time, patriotic activities to mark the holiday are held nationwide.

In 2012, the building was partly refurbished and the copper domes received a new coating of metallic paint. New colour-changing LED lights were installed to brighten up the building at night. On selected days, a section of Jalan Raja will be closed in order for the people to enjoy the night scenery of the area. Since 2007, a Merdeka (Independence) wording has been fixed at the bottom of the clock tower, a reminder of the very day of the nation's independence in 1957.

Don't harness the nags to this wagon if you owe money all around town; they will see you coming! It looks like it was last used in a circus. Not much light and a terrific range of light with not much fill but it looks like this place harbors pigeons. I worked to get this monopod shot at this speed. The second wagon looks like it might have hauled seed or grain. They also stashed some hay for the animals in the shed.

Not knowing that there was to be an "Event" out at the McIntosh/Lohr Agricultural Museum, I headed out Sunday to grab a couple of fill-in photos for a set. Among the events was a sheep herding demonstration using an Australian sheep dog, another was hayseed rides for the folks. A couple of dandy Belgians hauled the hitch up. Over at the corrals were several animals for studying. The museum is probably under-utilized though. It would be great if the kids could see some of the horse drawn farming implements in use. This is also a great place for a weekend stroll and a sandwich with the kids. We took advantage of this day near McIntosh Lake Park at the ag museum from where we later accessed the lake loop. The entire path loops around the lake and is 3.5 miles. It looks like the day might be cut short. Lake Shore Drive is in town while the far west side is just out of town. The north lake pavilion area on Mariner Drive was packed with picnic goers and partiers on the week end. There was still plenty of space for the town folk to settle in for a spell. Boy, Longmonters sure use their parks!

I'm all about skies but this is an undefined sky. Lately, we have been sending more powerful storms to Nebraska and Kansas in the hopes that they might someday be able to wrap their minds around global warming. We just experienced the warmest May on record. Even orange man Boner is claiming that he is not a scientist. I beleive what he says; he doesn't even understand the effects of loads of alcohol on the human body! Recently we have been graced with typical June skies, so I am trying to take advantage of them as I can. Today, the lighting is already getting soft. Today, served up more clouding and a promise of more 80s. We might be creeping up on 90s but they should be in August. More runoff could be a disaster and everyone has an eye on the streams. See if you can detect the climate changes around your locale. I am choosing to edit and I am spending extra time on the best of the captures considering today's skies. I was just in time to shoot on that day. The windmill might have some work to do later on. I scored some tripod shots out here some time ago but I am here for a walk with my camera with the monopod.

The farm/museum is part way between Largemont and Hygiene, Colorado on state highway #66. I created a Photo Set for the McIntosh/Lohr Agricultural Museum.

As many comic book fans of the 90's, I was a big fan of the death of superman saga. I had been collecting comics off newsstands and grocery stores since I was a young kid, and my first storyline from a comic book store was Death of superman(and x-men #1).
