This project aims to demonstrate that LES of complex geometries at flight Reynolds numbers is possible with today’s large-scale computers, which is a crucial step toward extended use of LES in transportation and power industries.
This image illustrates detailed simulation inside a flow control device. The main jet oscillates between the upper and lower outputs (separated by a triangular block in this cross-section); contours of streamwise velocity are shown. Actual aircraft will have dozens of these ports installed along the tail and wings for control.

React, Respect, Intersect was created by two professional artists and a team of youth artists as part of the Groundswell Community Mural Project’s flagship Summer Leadership Institute (SLI). SLI teams spend seven weeks during working with artists and community-based organizations, learning job skills and creating public art throughout New York City. This mural depicts a utopian environment where vehicular traffic, pedestrians of all ages and abilities, bicyclists, skateboarders, and animals respectfully share the street. It focuses not only on traffic and pedestrian safety education, but also site-specific themes and cultural diversity.
The safety education focus of this mural was informed by workshops lead by NYCDOT Safety Education. The artists and youth artists researched safety issues near the mural site which influenced their final design. Speed of vehicular traffic, high levels of carbon dioxide in the air, and the need for all modes of transportation to respectfully share the streets are just a few of the themes beautifully integrated in to this mural.

This picture was taken during a early morning walk on Kunnor High Road in Chennai, India. There is a funny story behind this pic. People react so differently when asked for a picture of them. Some become very conscious about themselves, some refuse to be photographed and some find themselves special and in a local Bangalore market I came across few saying "These guys have no other work" !!. The man in the above picture belongs to the last group. His name is Venkatechala Acharya.
I met this man during a similar walk on the same road a couple of weeks back , I asked him if I could take a couple of shots of him as he looked pious. He was so happy and even gave me some poses. I could see a celebrity feeling on his face. I thanked him and continued my walk.
A minute later he screamed from behind to called me back and told me that he has got many offers from the cine industry to act and would like a printed copy of the picture. I said I'll give him one and took down his phone number. Later none of his pictures turned out great.
This time - almost 2 weeks later, I take a morning walk again and to my surprise this guy finds me and asks where is his picture. He insisted that some directors are calling him to Malaysia to act in a movie !!!!! I told him about how the pictures turned out and asked him if I could take some more. Again with the same celebrity feeling he obliged.
I really loved the outcome of this shot.
