The rare sight for most are the salt field in the Run of Kutch in Gujrat. The white sea of salt with the embrace of blue, purple, pink, orange, yellow, the most beautiful colors of the sky are almost surreal. The human silhouettes at a distance and the round ball of fire adds life to the image!

at the Little Rann of Kutch.
The Rann of Kutch - in Gujarat in India - spreads over 26,000 square kilometres (10,000 square miles) and is a salt marsh, and when it dries up is one of the largest salt deserts in the world. The Rann - meaning salt marsh - is divided into the Great Rann and the Little Rann.
The Rann is also where most of India's salt is manufactured, in factories like one in the silhouette.

A breathtaking view of the Great Rann of Kutch from Kalo Dungar in the Kutch region of Gujarat. The white band/layer that you see in the middle is the expansive stretch of salt pan. Spreading over 7500 square km, it is the largest salt desert in the world.
I love this view ..it was this vast expanse of salt pan as far as the eye could see...so quiet and tranquil. Pakistan border is close by from here ..and sometimes people (from both the sides ) use these areas to cross over illegally ...
You can check out this link to know more about the Great Rann of Kutch en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Rann_of_Kutch
Editing : In Picasa - Saturation and a bit of shadow to make the three bands/layers distinct.
Enroute Dholavira as the bituminous cut through the white vastness of salt (Rann of Kutch), we found a shade of vermillion. It was beautiful.
Bhunga houses are round huts of Kutch and the real identity of Kutch desert. These beautiful houses are built by using mud and decorated with various things from inside and outside. In fact, they are the real museums of Kutch. They just showcase the real life of Kutchi people.

The cracked barren land stretched over a huge area. This region turns into a wetland during monsson and becomes paradise for many migratory birds.
The experience of spotting this fellow and getting a photograph of it was the highlight of the trip for me. Even though a lot of precaution was taken to approach the bird from dark areas, it sensed the presence. It got on it’s feet and hopped a few feet away - If it had taken the same few feet in the other direction, it would have crashed into me :)
