Built in 1953-1969, this Organic Modern building was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and Taliesin Associated Architects to serve as the Riverview Terrace Restaurant, an eatery that overlooks the Wisconsin River in Spring Green. The building is heavily integrated into the surrounding landscape, reflecting Wright’s organic design philosophy. The building is clad in rough-hewn stone and stucco, with a gabled roof, a hexagonal tower overlooking the main entrance, a cantilevered canopy on stone piers at the main entrance, exposed roof beams and stone fireplaces inside the building, a cantilevered section of the main floor that stretches between two sections of basement, and long ribbon windows with wide overhanging eaves that overlook the nearby Wisconsin River. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2024. Since 1994, the building has served as the Frank Lloyd Wright Visitor Center, and is the location from which tours of nearby Taliesin and the Hillside Home School complex begin, along with housing a gift shop, offices, and a cafe.
