Queues were pretty ok since October half term holidays, and since I do not ride ! a quick shot of my guys queueing for another ride at Flamingo Land ( theme park ), North Yorkshire, UK.
Travelling to The Netherlands in August 2022, there had been many months of airport queues both in UK and abroad. On arrival the queues to go through security were huge. Post-brexit questioning being a way to try & catch out anyone trying to enter the country with alternative reasons. Thankfully, by the time I'd got to the security desk I'd managed to practise my Dutch enough so that when questioned as to my reasons for visiting - I could give my answer in a reasonable way. I was through in no time at all.
On the 11th of every month, the Chinese are being encouraged to form orderly queues. This is so that by the time of the Olympics, it will be second nature for them not to push and shove. We kid you not. There was even a film crew filming this queue, at the Dongsishitiao Subway Station. [IMG_2097]
I had Ben take this picture since he's taller. The line stretched past a row of stores, around an empty alcove, and past another long line of stores. We estimate at least a thousand?
I don't remember the actual name of this piece, but the ropes in the middle of the room are actually an installation, not merely a functional way to organize a line. In fact, there's no reason to organize a line in this place. I had seen this several times before I witnessed the full aspect of this artwork.
This group of kids came in and, tired of walking back and forth for no apparent reason, one of them tried to disconnect the ropes to create a more direct route for himself. This is when the paraflows staffer who had been standing guard all along kicked into action. Apparently she had been given something specific to say to (yell at) people who tried to bypass the ropes by disconnecting them. You can just see her at the edge of the photo, and all the kids are looking at her as she scolds them.
