How Extreme Weather Is Shrinking the Planet - "Until now, human beings have been spreading, from our beginnings in Africa, out across the globe—slowly at first, and then much faster. But a period of contraction is setting in as we lose parts of the habitable earth. Sometimes our retreat will be hasty and violent; the effort to evacuate the blazing California towns along narrow roads was so chaotic that many people died in their cars. But most of the pullback will be slower, starting along the world’s coastlines. Each year, another twenty-four thousand people abandon Vietnam’s sublimely fertile Mekong Delta as crop fields are polluted with salt. As sea ice melts along the Alaskan coast, there is nothing to protect towns, cities, and native villages from the waves. In Mexico Beach, Florida, which was all but eradicated by Hurricane Michael, a resident told the Washington Post, 'The older people can’t rebuild; it’s too late in their lives. Who is going to be left? Who is going to care?'"

Who Killed Tulum? - Greed, gringos, diesel, drugs, shamans, seaweed, and a disco ball in the jungle.

The underside. The pullback motor is actually pretty much useless, you're going to need to give it a big push by hand if you want enough speed.

Also, note that the technic axle on the end of the spring mechanism isn't even neccesary. If the thing pops out at sufficient speed, only a tiny bump is enough to send it rolling over.

Also, to disable the spring mechanism you can slide the 16 tooth gear to the front of the car.

The tiniest bump will still set it off, rhough.

Here's a better look at the mechanism in my custom pullback car.

OLYMPUS CAMEDIA C-5060 Wide Zoom

From the beginning I wanted to have the pull back motor at it's core, it was actually part of a bigger plan to have a set of iconic cars all built around pull-back motors, but so far, only Optimus Prime has been added to the fold.

My entry to "Wacky Races" contest. Mr. Bones with his spooky ride :)

Wicked racing machine built with pullback brick.

Available in such a huge choice of different body styles and liveries you could almost make it a separate hobby trying to find them all! ;-p

I'm almost certain the vintage styling to its cab is based on a real vehicle but so far have drawn a blank on its identity especially as so many trucks of this era looked almost identical. The actual Chinese toy maker is I believe called Qizhuo Toys though in this instance the packaging has the DeSong brand who I believe are merely distributors/exporters.

Decent quality for its low end status with pullback motor and removable plastic barrels.

Found recently in a large Chinese bazaar in Sitges.

Pullback view of my foamcore lightbox. Gobo and reflector in place. ebay trigger to fire SB800. Set in my garage with opening towards back of garage to reduce ambient light.

DeSong branded, though they are very unlikely to be the actual Chinese manufacturer, vintage truck which is available in a myriad of different body styles. For such a cheapo budget diecast it looks credibly realistic and i'm now convinced its loosely based on a 1937 Reo Speed Delivery.

Its white plasticky wheels look a bit out of place but does offer plenty of play value with its pullback motor and removable rear load.

A superb battle painting by war artist David Rowlands. The pullback down Route 11 is going wrong as Chinese, seeing the British escape, charge down the hillsides to attack at close range. A half-section of Ulster Rifles' mortars is deployed to fire cover as the infantry withdraw. While the scale of the landscape is smaller than is shown, and one veteran criticizes the painting's "tidiness," the details are accurate: The Riflemen wear caubeens and cap comforters, not helmets, ammunition crates are scattered around, and the Hussar Centurions, fighting as a rearguard amid swarming Chinese, fire behind them.

This race car is my first alternative model built out of set 42106. I built it for TC18 Contest organized by eurobricks. It features pullback motor, steering and easily detachable body. Building instructions will be available at www.buildinst.cz/en soon.

Chevrolet Camaro. From a series of six cars packaged for Poundstretcher. The same castings were sold by Haribo in two sets of three: www.flickr.com/photos/adrianz-toyz/53320313447 although with slightly different wheels and different decoration. Four of these six are in the same colours as the Haribo releases, this was the same colour: www.flickr.com/photos/adrianz-toyz/53358434612

The last of these gloriously cheapo all plastic buses to be uploaded on here and a duplicate colour thanks to the vagaries of Chinese customer service! :-0

Weighing as light as a feather and thats even with a pullback motor at the back it most definitely isn't a quality item but does look surprisingly like a real life Hino S'Elega and is almost certainly a copy of a similar Tomica. No surprises to hear this came directly from China. Mint and boxed.

Thanks to the age of internet, arranging test shoot with quick notice in a small town in middle of nowhere is possible. This pullback is from the Millau city and location is 300 years old washing house built from the request of Louis XIV. Model: Alexia Sabrine

A rather chunky unlicensed Ferrari Enzo by an unknown Chinese manufacturer. Sourced from Temu meaning it didn't actually come in any actual manufacturers packaging, just a plastic bag with the name of the importer! Such things do annoy me!

Its chunky proportions are perhaps intentional as the other castings made by said unknown maker also share the same traits, it does however give off an impression of solidity and robustness.

Featuring clear lense headlights and intricate alloy effect wheels with a pullback function to complete the package.

Pipleline "collars" are used to attach the new sewer line to the existing sewer on each end. November 2014

I've visited the attractive Spanish town of Vilafranca several times over the years and yet have never felt the need to visit the large Abacus book and stationary store situated in the historic town centre. For some reason my intuition told me I should this time and was rewarded with a small selection of Welly 1/60 pullbacks. Not a brand I really encounter anymore in Spain with the good old days of them appearing at Chinese bazaars and Carrefour hypermarkets now sadly history!

No new surprises in vehicle choice but the stock offered were all pullbacks wearing different style wheels and that was all the excuse I needed.

Straight out of the camera. pullback, flip, move in

Corgi Mercedes-Benz Sprinter box vans Ocado. This is the full set of six in the first series, marked ©2008, with pull-back motors.

Although the boxes look generic, they have different reference numbers, and the variety is printed in the relevant colour on the tab of the end flap.

The second series had ten colours, were packed in smaller card boxes, and the vans had off-white cabs. The designs on the box bodies were less abstract than on this series.

Inspired by Shurik*'s dragster, I decided to make my own. I think it meets your specs, Shurik* ;).

I made my own motor since no Lego pullbacks comfortably fit my chassis style. Check the video to see it run, and the underside shot.
