Let's start from Mumbai then.

We were hosted with cure and love @ the Sisters of Charity house in Prabhadevi, near the area of Worli. We were simply tourists there: the Sisters did not want us to do anything at all and so, for few days, we breath the magic atmosphere of this incredible city.

Mumbai is water and hot, smells and perfumes, caos and peace, richness and poverty, horns and cars, but most of all beautiful faces and sweet eyes.

Mumbai is life in its deep essence. Mumbai is a wet window pane through which I saw this life pass me by.

I shot pictures at Ganesh Gully and took a short bus trip to come to the other end , I walked barefeet to reach Prabhadevi to see the works of Girish Mistrys students..Luxoculus 2009...

Girish and I go a long way back, he too is one of my Photo Gurus , the best of contemporary times.I made Girish Mistrys wedding clothes in 4 hours , as he had decided to get married and wanted a photographer cum tailor do his clothes.

This was the fastest I had done anyone's marriage clothes I rushed in time with the dress , as the Pandit kept saying , muhrat ka samay ja raha hai, ladke aur unke kapdon ko jaldi bulao...

So this is the crux of our relationship.. Girish me and his wedding clothes..

I attended just a single workshop of Girish on Light and that is it, it struck me like a bolt.. I was ready to shoot the streets of pain.

Girishes students are very brave and the best street photographers , creative and fine art too.

His wife too is a very dynamic photographer ..I can never spell her name right so I shall call her Mrs Girish Mistry..they have one son..who reflects light wherever he goes.

Shot with Nikon 810 with Carl Zeiss 50mm 1.4 at Prabhadevi.

was wanting to do these kind of Headshot's with Bokeh from a very long time .. infact such portraits from international photographers made me get into this world of photography ..

I had a good start around 7 years back when i bought speed lights and triggers for the same purpose but as days passed it became difficult to shoot a model on 'Streets of Mumbai' without being questioned and facing legalities issues especially if speedlights being fired ..

but things are improving and probably I am getting more brave these days and so have started this .... hopefully there will be many such portraits of beautiful models against bokeh in the days to come ....

and yes the water mark too has changed after years ..

The Shree Siddhivinayak Ganapati Mandir (Marathi:श्री सिद्धिविनायक गणपती मंदिर) is a Hindu temple dedicated to Ganesh. It is located in Prabhadevi, Mumbai, Maharashtra. It was originally built by Laxman Vithu and Deubai Patil on November 19, 1801. Though it is one of the richest temples in Mumbai, the current generation of Patil is staying in state of despair near the temple.[1]

The temple has a small mandap (hall) with the shrine for Siddhi Vinayak ("Ganesh who grants your wish"). The wooden doors to the sanctum are carved with images of the Ashtavinayak (the eight manifestations of Ganesh in Maharashtra). The inner roof of the sanctum is plated with gold, and the central statue is of Ganesh. In the periphery, there is a Hanuman temple as well.

The Siddhivinayak Mandir evolved from a small, tiny place of worship to the Grand Temple that stands today in the later half of the twentieth century.[citation needed] Temple glory was bought not only by the politicians who frequented the temple but also Bollywood film stars who continuously visit to seek the blessings of Lord Ganesha.

Siddhivinayak is well known as “Navasacha Ganapati” or “Navasala Pavanara Ganapati” ('Ganapati bestows whenever humbly genuinely prayed a wish' in Marathi) among devotees.

[edit]History

Consecrated on 19 November 1801, the original structure of the Siddhivinayak Temple was a small 3.6 m x 3.6 m square brick structure with a dome-shaped brick sikhara. The temple was built by the contractor Laxman Vithu Patil. The building was funded by a rich Agri woman named Deubai Patil. Childless, Deaubai built the temple so that the Lord should grant children to other barren women. Ramakrishna Jambhekar Maharaj, a disciple of the Hindu saint Akkalkot Swami Samarth, buried two divine idols in the front of the presiding deity of the temple on the orders on his guru. As prophesied by Swami Samarth, after 21 years after the burial of the icons, a mandar tree grew at that spot with a svayambhu Ganesha in its branches.

The 2550 sq m temple complex had two 3.6 m Deepamalas, a rest house and living quarters for the caretaker. It had an adjoining lake 30 x 40 sq. m. in size on the eastern and southern side of the temple. The lake, dug by Nardulla in the early 19th century to counter the scarcity of water, was filled up in the later years and the land is now not part of the temple complex. Around 1952, a small Hanuman shrine was built in the temple complex for the Hanuman icon that was found during the road extension project of Sayani Road near Elphinstone Road. In the 1950s and 60s, the fame of the temple spread and a significant number of devotees began visiting. However, in the same period, the owner of the plot sold some of the temple land, reducing the complex area. After 1975, the number of devotees increased dramatically.[2]

[edit]Controversy

The Siddhivinayak temple receives donations of around Rupee 100-150 million every year, which makes it Mumbai city's richest temple trust.[3] In 2004, the Siddhivinayak Ganpati Temple Trust, which operates the temple, was accused of mismanaging donations. Consequently the Bombay High Court appointed a committee headed by retired judge V P Tipnis to scrutinize the trust's donations and probe the allegations.[3] The committee reported that, "The most shocking aspect of the matter is that there is no method or principle followed for particular institutions. The only criteria for selection was recommendation or reference by trustees or the minister or a political heavy-weight, generally belonging to ruling party".[4]

In 2006 the Bombay High Court directed the state government, the Siddhivinayak Temple Trust and the petitioner Keval Semlani to prepare "suggestive guidelines" for using the temple's trust funds.[5]

I start a new series at Flickr as tribute to Hope and Hindutva a message of global peace beyond frontiers of the mind and its timelessness.

I took a bus from Bandra and came to Ganesh Gully Lalbagh where the Ganeshas are spiritually created by artisans - call it the magic hands of Faith..

Out of clay they create Divinity..that touches thousands of people during the Ganesha Chaturthi festival.

I have shot the workshops only to show the Western mind the power of Faith , clay molded by human clay, bringing forth Lord Ganesha.

The Ganeshas are later decorated by the pandal owners or devotees.

I show you Ganesha as a form as a sculptors spiritual dream , a poet shooting poetry created by poets.

I was barefeet and from the workshops I walked to Prabhadevi to attend the Loculus 2009 photo exhibition put up by Girish Mistry's students ..

I could not meet Mr Rawle the sculptor at his workshop at Ganesh Gully but I met the famous sculptor Khatu Bhai.

These are pictures in total raw form, so see them as sculptures but dont take the divinity await from a subject that I shoot with passion and devotion of my cultural inheritance,.

During his five year term, MP Sameer Bhujbal has developed Nashik as a city equipped with many facilities in all sectors. He has given prominence to the education, health and environment sector.

MP #SameerBhujbal has been working towards the overall development of #Nashik city. A look at the work carried out by him in some of the sectors.

Education Forever:

MP Sameer Bhujbal has been striving to provide qualitative education in Nashik. For this, many educational activities have been implemented by the ‘Bhujbal Foundation’. Schools and colleges that provide the required facilities have been set up. These institutes have also pushed the city towards an era of information technology. The Anglo Indian School in Nashik has now been provided with five computers for its students.

For the first time in Nashik constituency, books worth Rs 10 lakh have been distributed in various libraries from the funds allotted to MPs. Computers and printer will be provided to schools, colleges and public libraries from the local development funds. For this, Rs 8,15,000 has been arranged. Hostels for girl students are in the pipeline for villages that are in the interiors. One such hostel is ready in the Trimbkeshwar Taluka. Besides this, Torangan, Bhilmal, Thanapada and Rayate in Trambak will also have residential schools.

The Bhujbal Foundation has introduced a career guidance activity. It was modeled on Former President, APJ Abdul Kalam’s ‘Mission Education Vision- 2020’. This activity has been implemented with the technical support of the NGO, ‘FUEL’. The main agenda behind this activity was to introduce various career options to students from the 7-8th standard. So far, 1.5 lakh students from 300 schools have benefited from the activity.

The Women’s hostel set up at Gangapur road has been named ‘Vatsalya Mahila Vasatigruha’. The hostel has a capacity to house 100 women along with the hostel employee. This hostel will is for widows, orphans and other women needing support. Around Rs. 409.38 lakh has been arranged for this.

Priority to Health:

Nashik’s 43 hospitals got financial support over Rs. 56 lakh under the Prime Minister’s Fund. This was due to the recommendation of MP Sameer Bhujbal. Patients suffering from brain, heart and kidney related trouble received medical treatment. Even the Sai Baba Sansthan, Siddhi Vinayak and Prabhadevi Sansthans and other Trusts provided funds for the needy patients. The Bhujbal Foundation conducted health camps including those for eyes, diabetes, fitness, plastic surgery. More than 4,000 patients were treated in these camps.

Environmental Conservation:

The Bhujbal Foundation got around 251 trees transplanted. These were cut when work for expansion of the National Highway- 3 was going on at the Vilholi and Adgaon Octroi Naka areas. The transplantation included trees like the banyan and the papal which were replanted in the Mhasrul forest department. The Bhujbal Foundation and an environment oriented NGO will be looking after them.

On back drop of drought in Maharashtra, the Bhujbal Foundation has initiated the move to clean the reservoirs under the ‘Pani Adava, Pani Jirva’ scheme. So far, reservoirs of 35 villages have been cleaned. Last year, the Bhujbal Foundation had provided water through tankers to more than 75 drought hit villages including Yevala, Nandgaon, Sinnar, Trimbkeshwar and Igatpuri.

With Mr Bibhas Amonkar son of eminent Hindustani classical singer Late Mrs Kishori Amonkar who lived in my building and a wild life conservationist. At present Bibhas and his organization is involved in creating awareness of saving the Sahyadri mountains ecosystem by conducting cycling marathons in the mountains. In December they will be conducting a 1200 Km Cycle drive across the Sahyadri mountains.Reduce pollution by utilizing the “CYCLE” for commuting. As for me i have been cycling daily from my residence in Prabhadevi to M.G.M.O swimming pool since 2000 and happy to see that “CYCLING” as a fitness hobby elite status symbol and also as a commuter vehicle has come a long way in Mumbai after being labelled a “POOR MAN’s VEHICLE”. Did anyone in the 1990’s dream that a few “CYCLESHOPS” in Mumbai would be selling cycles ranging from a few thousand rupees to a million rupees ? All these cycles were on display at the “Nehru Center” .Its reality cycling hobby that has gripped India and Mumbai and wishing Bibhas Amonkar all success in their endeavour for conducting India’s equivalent to the “Tour de France” in the Sahyadri mountains of Western India./

In 1977 Dad and a few of his co- cargo supervisors were transferred to the Port of Jeddah after the closure of their jobs in Mombasa. In Jeddah they worked for "Gray Mackenzie Co" and drew wages on par with British cost of living and hence Dad earned approx Rs 10,000 in 1977, a massive salary. In 1977 a one bedroom flat in our building at Prabhadevi cost approx Rs 1,00,000 only equivalent to less than a years salary of my dad.In 2013, the same flat costs approx Rs 2 crores! Hence a layman can approximate the purchasing power of Rs 10,000 in the late 1970's.Sadly, he worked for only approx 2 years and retired forever, confined to our house in Mumbai. Those were economically tough financial years for our family as i was only 19 years of age, studying and hence no lavish house-hold income for the family barring dad's savings, especially the 2 years in Jeddah. Those years taught me the lesson of thrift and always saving your money for a rainy day or financial calamities.Overnight, at age of 19 years i became the "Family Man" of the house and began taking decisions in family investments and a beginning into the "STOCK MARKET" and "DEBENTURES", investing my parents money as they were illiterate in the World of investments.

Row, row, row the boat

Gently down the stream

If you see an Alien

Don't forget to scream ! ;-)

Row, row, row the boat

Gently down the stream

Merrily merrily merrily merrily

Up and down the stream

Row, row, row your boat

Gently down the lake

Don't stand up and rock the boat

That's a big mistake!

Row, row, row the boat

Gently down the stream

Throw your teachers overboard

And listen to them scream!

Rock, rock, rock your boat

Gently down the stream

Watch out, give a shout,

Into the water you go!

Wednesday(4-5-2016) :- While going for my early morning "Cycling /Free Hand Exercises" spotted this tiny fruit bat lying on the lobby just outside our building lift. I was just in time to rescue it before our building cat "Champa" was about to devour it as a breakfast snack.Brought the tiny bat home and kept it on my garden balcony Bonsai tree.Seems to be either sick or injured. It is now resting in my balcony and hope it flies off tonight. A few large "Flying Foxes" live on the large banyan tree of our building which also has squirrels and koels. Old Prabhadevi is a well forested ;locality despite skyscraper buildings.Once before decades ago in the 1990's a fruit bat had stayed into our flat and i had caught and later released it.Any suggestions on how to care for it.I have just left it on my bonsai tree with the 2 cats totally unaware of its presence. What is the name of this bat species ? A few photo's of the tiny bat and my own selfie with it.
