Day 83-- Three sepia shots in a row. Think I'll go back to color tomorrow. Yesterday I shot in sepia, and today I just never changed the settings back.
A friend got me thinking about this skewed biography I'm creating for my kids, full of happy times and clean backgrounds and cozy goodness. Some day they'll look back and think they had one great childhood, with all the bad parts (heck, even the mediocre parts) left out. I think that's a good thing.
On the other hand, if this is all they have, they might come to the conclusion that they didn't have parents until they got much older, because Mama is always behind the camera, and Daddy is always at work.
With that in mind, my photo of the day was shot through a mirror covered in splashes and handprints (my kids think the bathroom is Happy Happy Fun Land) by a mama who is not behind the camera and therefore can't aim. It's blurry and smudgy and 75% negative space and features a parent who didn't get a shower and a baby who isn't wearing pants... and it's me laughing with my baby.
I wish I had pictures of my mom laughing with me. I completely understand why I don't. My mom had it even harder than I do, and digital cameras obviously didn't exist, and she couldn't throw away money on film and developing costs, and there wasn't anyone around to take our picture. She also thought she didn't look good in pictures, being a young mother who didn't get a shower that day and chased her crazy baby around and tried to make it through until tomorrow, but I disagree. I love the very few pictures of her at my age.
So, Future Annika, this one's for you. I love you, little monkey girl.

So many of us have this backwards, we have too much faith in our doubts and too much doubt in our faith. Let's try reversing this today, and see what a difference it will make in our lives.

"It's really quite simple: If you want inspiration, think inspiring thoughts; if you want healing, think healing thoughts; if you want creativity, think creative thoughts; and if you want to live in a higher way, think higher thoughts."

Ok, so here are the positives for the other two colours. These have to be extremely accurate and absolutely opaque or it causes problems with exposure. The left will be a colour to tint the face and the right is highlights in the eyes and "teeth".
A lot of people do this work in the computer and get someone else to print it but I like to handmake it wherever possible, it just feels more "art" to me that way. More personal.
