And this brings to an end our day visit to Busan. The Westerdam is on the way back to Japan and the port of Nagasaki.
The Westerdam will leave the part passing under the harbor bridge.
The Busan Harbor Bridge is the city’s newest. Busanhang Daegyo opened for three lanes of traffic in 2014.
The suspension bridge’s 3.5 mile length spans the Sea of Japan and connects Youngdo Island with the Nam District.
The Port of Busan has a spiffy looking Busan Port International Passenger Terminal.
The terminal takes the form of killer whale swimming across the waves, representing the dynamic image of Busan as the ocean capital of Korea.
In addition, as the gate to Eurasia, it is designed to accommodate 5 of 20,000t ferry boats, 8 of 5,000t speed boats and a 100,000 cruise ship passengers simultaneously as well as 2.8 million visitors annually.
Back on the Westerdam docked in the Port of Busan, the ship was getting ready to depart. For 1 hour before leaving the ship passengers were treated to a variety of entertainment.
Arriving at the Port of Busan includes passage under Busanhang Daegyo bridge from the Sea of Japan, also called the East Sea.
Completed in April 2014 the three-lane bridge spans 5,700 m (18,000 ft - 3.5 miles). The bridge spans the Sea of Japan and connects Youngdo Island with the Nam District.
Waiting for the Westerdam to undock at the Port of Busan, there was not much to do but watch the port ferry ferry boats coming and going. So four shots of the port ferry traffic.
Tsushima is an island in the Tsushima Strait (the eastern channel of the Korea Strait), about 50 km from Korea and 130 km north of Fukuoka, Japan.
South Koreans are a a great contribution to Tsushima island economy. The number of Korean tourists to the island increased greatly after the launching of a high-speed ferry service from Busan to the island in 1999.
Japan and South Korea have a long standing dispute as to the ownership of the Tsushima Island. Today, the island is recognized as Japanese.
