HDR processed shot taken at Waverly Station in Edinburgh. Strange to get an empty platform in such a busy Train Station.
The redesign of the Delft train station started in 1999. The project's goal was to move the two tracks underground in order to reduce noise pollution in the tiny, quaint city centre. In 2015 the new station building opened and trains ran successfully through the new tunnels. By 2020, they aim to have the old infrastructure (platforms and viaduct) removed.
Again the rear view. Most of what you see here of the new building is inaccessible to the public. In the foreground, emergency vehicle access to the old platforms. Storm clouds rolled in, threatening the last of the evening sun.
Parked in platform 1 in preparation to couple to the stock for 1Y11, the 04:50hrs from Edinburgh to Fort William, parked alongside in platform 19 is GB Railfreight Class 66/7 No. 66742 'Port of Immingham Centenary 1912-2012', which is preparing to depart with 1S25 to Inverness. The Aberdeen portion is at the north end of platform 2.

Platform shoes are known in many cultures. The most famous predecessor of platform shoes are the Zoccoli in Venice of the 15th century, designed with the functional goal of avoiding wet feet when the pavements were flooded. In the 1970s Glam Rock was born, performed by musicians who wore outrageous costumes, makeup, and hairstyles, particularly platform boots and glitter. Elton John, David Bowie and Abba are examples of platform boot wearing legends.

Just came across this Orb from a while ago that I must have forgotten to upload which is nice, as I have not been out during the week of the full moon for months due to other commitments.
The conundrum remains for this evening though - what on earth am I going to photograph for my 366 tonight? The weather is dreadful outside! Mid-June my ar$e!

Notting Hill Gate station in London unusually light traffic at this time through the station. One of the most efficient mass transit systems in the world. You can get to anywhere within the city fast and easy.
