This tree is a specimen of the London Plane and is thought to be largest of its type in Britain, dating back to around the first half of the 18th Century.
It's approximately 40 metres tall and a girth of 12 metres. The area covered by it's branches is in excess of 1500 square metres.

Matt Denn to Bayhealth. “What makes Kent General’s and Bayhealth’s approach so effective is that you help to empower patients and their families by ensuring that they are central to all decisions made about a patient’s care,” she said. The international Spirit of Planetree Awards honor care that focuses holistically on mental, emotional, spiritual and physical healing. Honored were Dr. Christie Miller (Physicians Champion); Maria Stir, RN-4A (Caregiver Champion); and pet therapy dog Jack with owner Kayleigh Karnbach (2013 Pet Therapy Animal of the Year for Planetree).

How do you manage trees that were planted in the 1960s as part of post-war housing development in the third decade of the 21st Millennium? With great care, dinosaur smoke and mankind’s great pursuit in conquest over nature.
The process being undertaken in these photos is what's called pollarding, where a trees limbs are removed entirely to encourage later dense growth within 1 to 2 years. Only certain species of trees can handle this brutal operation, like these London Plane trees here. Once a tree is pollarded, it has to be regularly maintained in 5-10 year operations.
Historically, wood harvested from this method would be used to feed livestock or for light timber, but these days, thanks to the infernal combustion engine, two operatives can pollard five trees in as many hours, with the tree limbs being quite violently mechanically separated and carted off to be used either as mulch or biofuel.
I find arboriculture rather fascinating; living amongst the trees in an urban environment, arborists have been a regular sight over the years, performing everything from whole tree clearings to dead wood pruning, I’ve seen them do a lot.

Hadrian's Wall marked the North West frontier of the mighty Roman Empire. The Emperor Hadrian visited Britain in 122 AD and ordered the construction of the 74 mile long Wall from Bowness on Solway to Wallsend to separate Romans from Barbarians. The Wall began as a turf structure in the west and continued as a stone wall to the east. To the north of the Wall was a substantial ditch and a major bank known as the Vallum was constructed south of the Wall. A small garrisoned fortified gate known as a Milecastle was built at roughly one Mile spacings along the line of the Wall with two towers called Turrets between each of the Milecastles. 15 Large garrisoned Forts were positioned at intervals along the Wall. The Wall was a major feat of engineering constructed over a period of 10 years by military personnel from all three of the Legions based in Britain. Apart from a period of around 20 years from 142 the Wall was occupied and garrisoned from 130 until 410 AD. In addition to the military occupying the Wall civilian settlements developed south of the Wall near the main forts.

The contrast between the sky and the sea is almost indiscernible however the beautifully lit plain before me covered in a profusion of plants more than makes up for it.

Aix-en-Provence; Provençal Occitan, or simply Aix (pronounced: "Ex", medieval Occitan Aics), is a city-commune in south of France, some 30 km (19 mi) north of Marseille.

In the older part of Aix, there are also fountains of note in the Place d'Albertas and the Place des Trois-Ormeaux.
Unlike most of France which has an oceanic climate, Aix-en-Provence has a Mediterranean climate.
