A sunny Winter morning on the Leidsebosje.
Leidsebosje
The Leidsebosje is located in a north-south green strip between the Stadhouderskade street and the Singelgracht. On the north side it is adjacent to the Stadhouderskade 1 building; the former head office of Gemeentetram Amsterdam (GVB). In the south, the park will end when the Stadhouderskade actually becomes the quay of the Singelgracht; it lies at the height of the Hein Donnerbrug, the connection between Max Euweplein and Vondelpark.
There has been a green strip here for centuries. A map by Gerrit de Broen from 1737 already shows a green area along the city walls at the passage from Amsterdam to Leiden. The park almost automatically got its name, nearby are Leidsestraat, Leidsegracht, Leidskaart and Leidsebrug, the latter replacing the Leidsepoort. At that time (1737) there was also a passage in the park towards the Overtoomsche Vaart; the exit route to Leiden. It had to take until March 16, 2017 before the unofficial name Leidsche Bosje / Leidse Bosje / Leidsebosje made the name official by decision of the Council of Mayor and Aldermen. Finally, a street sign could be placed. The appearance of the park has changed over the centuries. For example, the Singelgracht was straightened at the site of the Leidseplein, a roundabout was created that was reconstructed in 1971 into the T-intersection Stadhouderskade and Leidseplein with the Leidsebrug designed by Piet Kramer as a connection.
In the northern part of the park are two of the largest trees in Amsterdam. These are two plane trees from around 1880 with a circumference of over. 6.5 meters and a height of over 20 meters (data at the beginning of the 21st century). During the construction of the roundabout, the trees, which were already half a century old, were moved a few meters in 1925.
Since its final construction at the end of the 19th century, the Leidsebosje has been an important crossroads for public transport from the center to the west. The first horse tram line already passed the Leidsebosche in 1877. From 2018 the park will be served by tram lines 1, 2, 5, 11 and 12. Three regional bus lines from Connexxion also pass here. Tram line 11 has been discontinued in 2020.
Not usually a big fan of the Olympus art filters, but on this photo the Diorama filter sort of worked. The wacky sky colour isn't from the filter though, it's from using the wrong white balance setting. And the wacky building colour is from the awesome 5PM golden hour light that we've been having in Melbourne recently.

Hannah Borger Overbeck (1870-1931) was an American artist and illustrator during the Arts and Crafts Movement. She was known for her watercolors and sketches, and was responsible for the pottery’s decorative designs. Her main subject was nature with beautiful flowers and botanical drawings.

Looking up at one of a group of old Plane trees in the centre of 'The Circus' in Bath. Considering the circular space in the centre was originally intended for civic functions etc there's hardly any room left as the trees nearly fill the space completely.

I rarely use the major highways in France.
I prefer the smaller roads, especially tree avenues. Under the shade of the large plane trees, you might travel slower, but it's much more relaxing.

There are avenue of planetree (or Sycamore trees) Platanus occidentalis leafless this time of the year (April), but already pink splash of flowering Azalea.
Less crowd here because of rain, and most people are in Cherry blossoming part of the garden at this time.

This set of photos was created to honor and thank the friends and members of OPS Ikarias who helped to trace and secure the «2nd Part of the Trail of Atheras» (link to map) along the middle of the Ikarian mountain ridge.
Big thanks too to 1) the international association «Friends of Ikaria» for their help in the field, as well as their full-hearted support of the project, and 2) the Association of Arethousa, Ikaria for the warm welcome and their great help and guidance in finding and marking a selection of hiking routes in their beautiful village.

Platanus × acerifolia, London plane, London planetree, or hybrid plane, is a tree in the genus Platanus. It is usually thought to be a hybrid of Platanus orientalis (oriental plane) and Platanus occidentalis (American sycamore). Some authorities think that it may be a cultivar of P. orientalis.
I am now experimenting with my new Sony 35mm 1.4 lens. This lens was described by Steve Huff as “the best full frame 35mm lens I have ever used in my life”. As I have little experience with high quality glass I cannot make any claims about this lens but I do think the it will be my lens of choice going forward.
Originally when I switched from Classic DSLR to Mirrorless my intention was to reduce size and weight to a minimum because I was tired of transporting heavy equipment around the country. However when I got the Sony A7RM2 I decided to try the get best possible lenses even if they were very expensive but the down-side to this decision is that my equipment is becoming very heavy.
