The beautiful mountain river of Voidomatis in Vikos Aoos National Park, of Northern Greece.
Voidomatis is a tributary of the Aoos river, which originates from Tymfi mountain (the summit of which is seen in the b/g), streaming through the Vikos Gorge.
This river has been characterized as the “cleanest river” in Europe, as it does not face any environmental issues, flowing through one of the most beautiful unspoiled and pristine natural locations of Greece.
The river is spanned by numerous very old and picturesque stone bridges, and is well known for water sports such as rafting, canoeing and kayaking.

How could they do this to such an amazing tree? I'm sure it was there long before the road was built.

Platanus is a genus consisting of a small number of tree species native to the Northern Hemisphere. They are the sole living members of the family Platanaceae. All members of Platanus are tall, reaching 30–50 m (98–164 ft) in height. They are often known in English as planes or plane trees. Some North American species are called sycamores.
The Diarizos Valley lies west to south west of the Troodos mountain range and takes its name from the river Diarizos which runs through it. This valley has a wide variety of fauna and flora, with a number of protected species.
The Troodos National Forest Park covers an area of 9,147 hectares around Mount Olympus. It is an area of great natural beauty, suitable for activities such as hiking, biking and camping .

FINALLY I got a picture of one of these trees! I wish that I knew what it was. Yesterday was a dark day with a mist of rain that morning that got heavier as the day progressed. The darkness is really starting to show in my pictures.
Thanks to www.flickr.com/photos/drew_makepeace/ I now know that this is a Plane tree!
Europaboulevard 02/03/2021 10h00
An almost Spring morning in Amsterdam Buitenveldert. The crocuses together with a row of plane trees that were planted here in 1967.
The street, part of Stadsroute 109, starts on the south side of Europaplein, where President Kennedylaan also approaches the square. The southern point of the Europaboulevard is formed by a T-junction with Ouborg and De Borcht on the border with Amstelveen. The main intersections of Europaboulevard are from north to south Ringweg Zuid (A10), De Boelelaan, A.J. Ernststraat, Van Nijenrodeweg and Van Boshuizenstraat.
From the Rijksweg 10 to almost the southern point, east of the Europaboulevard is the Amstelpark, where in 1972 the RAI and the Beatrixpark were held the Floriade 1972, connected to the viaducts not yet in use.
Buitenveldert
Buitenveldert is a neighborhood of Amsterdam, Netherlands. It is considered the modern Jewish quarter of Amsterdam with its Synagogue, Jewish schools, nursing homes, shops and restaurants.
rom the Middle Ages the 'Binnendijksche Buitenveldertse' polder in the rural Amstelland region was part of the Nieuwer-Amstel municipality. In 1921, the Buitenveldert polder was annexed by the city of Amsterdam. Since then, the Kalfjeslaan on the southside of Buitenveldert has been the city limit.
As part of the Algemene Uitbreidingsplan (‘General Expansion Plan’) of 1935, the Buitenveldert polder became the site of a new suburb. It was the only suburb on the south side of the city; most other suburbs were planned on the west side. In 1958 the first stone was laid for the suburb, which was designed according to the garden city planning principles. In 1959 the first residents moved into their new homes.
In 1987 Buitenveldert was granted the status of a borough. In 1998 the borough merged with the neighboring boroughs of Rivierenbuurt to form the new borough of Zuideramstel, which also included parts of the Prinses Irenebuurt. In 2010, after another merger, Buitenveldert became part of the borough of Amsterdam-Zuid.
In 1998, the masterplan for the Zuidas business district was adopted by the Amsterdam municipal council. The new business district has transformed the northern part of Buitenveldert, whereas the southern part has remained mostly residential. The highlight of this residencial area is the Gelderlandplein, a shopping centre with several clothing shops, jewelries, restaurants, supermarkets and others. It is one of the few shopping centres in Amsterdam but while the others, like Magna Plaza and Bijenkorf, are located in the city centre, the Gelderlandplein is in this residential area.

Leidsebosje 04/11/2020 12h33
Beautifully filtered autumn light on a park where actually every Amsterdammer has been. On the way to or from Leidseplein, in a drunken or sober state.
The plane tree prominently in the picture is an ordinary plane tree that was planned here in 1864 and has a height of approximately 20 meters.
Leidsebosje
The Leidsebosje is located in a north-south green strip between the Stadhouderskade street and the Singelgracht. On the north side it is adjacent to the Stadhouderskade 1 building; the former head office of Gemeentetram Amsterdam (GVB). In the south, the park will end when the Stadhouderskade actually becomes the quay of the Singelgracht; it lies at the height of the Hein Donnerbrug, the connection between Max Euweplein and Vondelpark.
There has been a green strip here for centuries. A map by Gerrit de Broen from 1737 already shows a green area along the city walls at the passage from Amsterdam to Leiden. The park almost automatically got its name, nearby are Leidsestraat, Leidsegracht, Leidskaart and Leidsebrug, the latter replacing the Leidsepoort. At that time (1737) there was also a passage in the park towards the Overtoomsche Vaart; the exit route to Leiden. It had to take until March 16, 2017 before the unofficial name Leidsche Bosje / Leidse Bosje / Leidsebosje made the name official by decision of the Council of Mayor and Aldermen. Finally, a street sign could be placed. The appearance of the park has changed over the centuries. For example, the Singelgracht was straightened at the site of the Leidseplein, a roundabout was created that was reconstructed in 1971 into the T-intersection Stadhouderskade and Leidseplein with the Leidsebrug designed by Piet Kramer as a connection.
In the northern part of the park are two of the largest trees in Amsterdam. These are two plane trees from around 1880 with a circumference of over. 6.5 meters and a height of over 20 meters (data at the beginning of the 21st century). During the construction of the roundabout, the trees, which were already half a century old, were moved a few meters in 1925.
Since its final construction at the end of the 19th century, the Leidsebosje has been an important crossroads for public transport from the center to the west. The first horse tram line already passed the Leidsebosche in 1877. From 2018 the park will be served by tram lines 1, 2, 5, 11 and 12. Three regional bus lines from Connexxion also pass here. Tram line 11 has been discontinued in 2020.
London Plane (Platanus × acerifolia)
Generally considered to be a cross between the oriental plane (Platanus orientalis) and American sycamore (Platanus occidentalis).
This is the Jabberwocky Tree located in the staff garden at Christchurch College in Oxford. This Jabberwocky Tree is a Japanese Plane and this is and its two sisters are the originators of every hybrid and London Plane Tree in the UK.
There was at one time a Don of mathematics at Christchurch named Charles Dodgson who befriended the three children of Henry Liddell especially his daughter Alice who begged him to write the stories he told them down. Dodgson wrote the stories down under the pen name of Lewis Carroll and until his death never admitted they were the same man. Dodgson did write much under his own name though in the field of mathematics. Legend has it that Queen Victoria loved Alice in Wonderland so much she asked him to send a copy of his next book when it came out and what she was sent was one of Charles Dodgsons books on mathematics.
You can see much evidence of the adventures of Alice in Christchurch including Dodgson's own nickname 'the Dodo' and their father Henry Liddell was known as the Little White Rabbit as Christchurch operates on 'Oxford Time' which is five minutes behind Greenwich Meridian Time (this harks back to the time before the railways when there were different time zones in England). He would often be seen running looking at his watch wearing his ceremonial white robes and was nicknamed the White Rabbit for this reason!
The Jabberwocky how ever is my favourite and truly is within Carroll's style of literary nonsense and tells the story of a mans son who slays the evil Jabberwock!
'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
“Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!”
He took his vorpal sword in hand;
Long time the manxome foe he sought—
So rested he by the Tumtum tree
And stood awhile in thought.
And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!
One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.
“And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!”
He chortled in his joy.
’Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

I'm thinking maybe something Hawaiian, but clearly I do not know. It is presently growing in Western Oregon in an area called the Willamette Valley, near Springfield, zip code 97478, It doesn't snow very often down this low, but we had a little the day I took the picture. It was incredibly knobby looking to me, the tree, not the snow. LOL.
From LOL back is what I first said about this tree. From here to the end of the description box is what I discovered and just some thoughts.
Ok, I went back roughly a week later and talked to the owner of the trees. He says they are Platanus x acerifolia
London Planetree
FAMILY: PLATANACEAE A hybrid of some kind like from the Orient and Europe, I think he said. The fact that many of these types of trees were pollarded, he said, was because in the days of the Serfs, it was against the King's law to cut down any of the King's trees. Pollardizing allowed them come back year after year without their growth getting out of hand. Kept the Serfs alive too, or at least out of the Tower. (grin...I said that part)
He said at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, where they have a large sort of tree-lined mall and concert area, these Plane Trees form a corridor (that's my word, not his) and they can not only be pruned to stay sort of a uniform size, but the branches can be pruned so they bend toward the ground/earth a bit, and that softens the sound of the concert. I found it very interesting what he said, but a couple of things; I don't hear well these days so I may have heard the information incorrectly. And I am neither a botanist, nor tree expert of any kind.
However, I was delighted to tell him then that my first park that I can remember for sure, in life, was Golden Gate Park, and that as a small child I played underneath those odd looking trees. I was 3 years old when we moved quite close to it. Until he mentioned those trees at Golden Gate Park, I had not thought they might be what I'm trying to identify here on Flickr. I'll have some more pictures of them coming in the near future.
Thanks to all who tried to help me figure this out. I'm glad to know those are not tumors on the trees.
BTW, The Sycamore Tree sometimes fit into the equation for the hybrid. And the Magnolia tree, while not the correct identity, does in fact have some multi-colored patches bark. It makes me think of camouflage.
Weteringschans 13/11/2023 14h50
An autumnal "tramorama" on the Weteringschans with Combino 2022 arriving at tram station Weteringschans under the almost leafless plane trees that were planted here in 1920. Love the soft light of this time of year. November 2023 was very wet and grey and we have had less sun hours than normal.
At the time of this photo, approximately 80 percent of the Combino trams are equipped with new LED line numbers and destination displays with orange numbers and letters.
Combino 2022 was delivered to the GVB on 19/06/2002 and first seen on the street with passengers on 18/07/2002 on line 10 (Westerpark - Amsterdam Oost).
