Yeah, still got more stuff to post from this roll.
Colours done with a combination of red-blue polariser and green filter attached to lens. Shot on film. This is not a processing trick.
finishing my series on this beautiful garden we visited last week, as part of our time in nearby Ohio ( about a ten-hour drive from home...)
This garden is WELL worth visiting...we found the staff helpful and informative...they even opened the gift store early for us.
Admission to the garden is free.
I have always enjoyed seeing this plane tree bark...and making abstract compositions in my camera's screen...I hope you like them too!
Next we visited the Columbus Museum of Art....FULL of treasures....I'll post soon.

I had a lovely morning outing along Melbourne's Birrarung Marr with the Famous Flickr Five + Group. Walking along the corniche by the Yarra River provides some beautiful views of the Melbourne central business district also known as "the grid" because the original Melbourne city was based on a grid of main streets, famous Southbank precinct and views east along the Yarra.
Birrarung Marr is an inner city park between the Melbourne central business district and the Yarra River. It was opened in 2002. The name "Birrarung Marr" means "river of mists" and "river bank" in the Woiwurrung language of the Wurundjeri people, the Indigenous inhabitants at the time of European settlement of the Melbourne area.
Southbank is a vibrant arts and dining precinct built along the Yarra River on the former site of the Allan's Sweets factory and other industrial buildings. It was transformed into a densely populated district of high rise apartment and office buildings beginning in the early 1990s, as part of an urban renewal program. With the exceptions of the cultural precinct along nearby St Kilda Road, few buildings built before this time were spared by redevelopment. Today, Southbank is dominated by high-rise development. It is one of the primary business centres in Greater Melbourne. Southbank Promenade and Southgate Restaurant and Shopping Precinct, on the southern bank of the Yarra River is one of Melbourne's major entertainment precincts.

My first pictures with b&w infrared film; and not the last, that's for sure. Surreal landscapes arround the Catalan village of Perafita.
Picture taken with a Nikon F made in 1971-72; generic infrared filter IR720; Rollei Infrared 400.
The huge plane trees make a fine sight at any time of year.
Sadly it's rare to see a golden carpet of fallen leaves as the Town Council seem weirdly over-efficient at removing them almost as they touch the ground.

Planetree bark - probably London Planetree, which is a hybrid cross between Oriental Planetree (Platanus orientalis) and American Sycamore (Platanus occidentalis). But this photo is all about texture, colour, and shape, not species I.D. (I shot stock for so long that sometimes I find it hard to step outside of naming the subject precisely.) From a rainy day walk in Beacon Hill Park, Victoria, British Columbia.

Lēthaeus river, captured in October, in late afternoon. Lēthaeus river (Ληθαῖος, Lēthæus / Lithéos) flows through the city centre of Trikala in Thessaly, central Greece. It is a tributary of Pēneus (Πηνειός, Piniós, a larger river). Lēthaeus rises in Antichassia mountains; its source lies at an altitude of 500 m. The river’s length is 36 km.
According to Greek mythology, Lēthaeus was the son of Lēthē (Λήθη, Greek female noun for Oblivion or Forgetfulness). Lēthē was one of the five rivers of the underworld ( ᾅδης, Hadēs ): the souls of the dead entering Hadēs had to drink from Lēthē to experience complete forgetfulness in the afterlife.
Asclepius —the god of Medicine— was born by the river banks of Lēthaeus, according to Strabo’s geography (XIV, 647). The god’s birthplace was Trikala (aka Tricca or Trikkē: Τρίκαλα, Τρίκκη) :
“There is another Lethæus in Gortyne, a third near Tricca, where Asclepius is said to have been born, and…”
—Strabo (Geography, ⅩⅣ, 647)
Original Strabo’s text in ancient Greek:
«Ἕτερος δ’ ἐστί Ληθαῖος ποταμὸς ὁ περὶ Τρίκκην ἐφ’ᾧ ὁ Ἀσκληπιὸς γεννηθῆναι λέγεται»
This picture was taken during a 12 day cycle tour starting late September. The Canal is in southern France running from Toulouse to the Mediterranean. We cycled part of the route of the canal and part on nearby lanes. The Canal was one of the greatest construction works of the 17th Century. It is a World Heritage Site and is especially well known for the beautiful Plane Trees which line its banks, 42,000 in all. However many of these trees are affected by a disease and within 10 years all are likely to be felled so it is a place to visit while you can.
This picture was taken near Castelnaudary as we were on the way to the great medieval town and fortress of Carcassonne which is also on the Canal. The 2 Club Mates with me on the trip. In the red, were very understanding in following Photographers instructions!
The picture was taken handheld with a Sony A700 with a Sigma 10-20mm zoom at 20mm.
A single RAW image was processed as a false HDR in Photomatix. I applied the painting effect using Topaz Simplyfy Buz Sim preset. I applied the effect on a duplicate layer with a mask and reduced it a little on the 2 main riders.
I brought down saturation especially on blues yellows and reds for a more natural look than that produced by Photamatix.

The London planetree (Platanus × acerifolia) is a very large deciduous tree that is quite resilient in urban conditions. This hybrid tree resulted from a cross between two sycamore species: Platanus occidentalis (American sycamore) and Platanus orientalis (Oriental plane).

Melbourne's Yarra River can be a very busy thoroughfare: not least of all on a bright Saturday morning in early January, as dozens of rowers and pleasure craft take to the water.

It would seem to be a bit early, but the gardeners probably know what they're doing. Plane Trees are here being pruned for the winter. This is one of the entrances to the lovely park surrounding the man-made Gaasperplas, a broadening out of the rivulet De Gaasp whose waters ultimately let out into 't IJ and then the North Sea.

What is a Londonplane tree? (from the web)
"It is usually thought to be a hybrid of Platanus orientalis (oriental plane) and Platanus occidentalis (American sycamore)."
