Nicely veined plant. This is the first time in probably a decade that I've noticed the red coloration near the throat-I swear, these plants are elusive! The first year I got it (late 90's), the veins on the exterior of the pitcher was very pronounced, but this year, it's just okay.

Mom was so excited to show me her latest addition to one of her bog ponds, a lonely pitcher plant before she headed off to China;) She said she'd like to get a couple more but probably wouldn't be able to until next spring.

well, in the front is a giant S. psittacina 'Golf ball,' S. x catesbaei, and behind the catesbaei are S. purpurea venosas. To the right are all S. purpurea ssp. purpureas.

Native to Thailand, Malesia (Brunei, Indonesia - Irian Jaya, Kalimantan, Sumatra, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, Singapore). Habitat - secondary forest and forest margin. Also planted as ornamental.
