i was overwhelmed by the collection in the centre pompidou. i actually spent so much time in this section covering modern art from 1960 to the present that i didn´t have time to see the rest
as always when i go to a museum ... i have the occupational hazard of analysing the exhibitions, content, layout etc etc. i´m really interested in the museum environment as well and how people interact within the space. this is an offshoot of my interest in people´s interaction with the urban environment as well. in the pompidou i was inspired to broaden the photographic project i´d been working on to include not just exterior spaces but also interiors, particularly museums.
of course the connection between the urban environment & the museum in terms of design and how it effects people´s behaviour - whether intentionally or not - has been a subject of scholarly exploration in various fields for many years. the streets & museums of 19th-century paris are often a starting point for people´s exploration of these ideas and being in that city inspired me to a great extent with this project ... probably more so than anything i´d done before
details of the artworks & artists to come ... once i´ve dragged them out of my diary!
at new year we went to alecia´s apartment borrowed from a friend in montmartre. a tiny but gorgeous garret where we ate french cheeses, had traditional italian dishes, accompanied by lambrusco & red wine. we were all pretty merry when we began to head toward the eiffel tower for midnight celebrations.
just outside the front door the montmartre new years parade was happening. it was pretty small but very fun ... with giant papier mache sculptures & live music. it got us completely in the mood for new year´s revelry & frolics that followed
I've heard this stuff called HyperText.
Great and apt name.
Part2 has upped this one perfectly, look at how the colours are workin here.
Deep fried Twinkie, that is. It was super rich. This is all we could eat of it. Tasty, but now that we've experienced it, I don't think we need to try this again.
WIth the batter surrounding it, it tasted a little like a Twinkie pancake. Sort of.
i walked past this amazing patisseries quite often. it´s in the marais in a street near to where i stayed. they had pastries like i´ve never seen before! it was a gorgeous little place that was always full of customers.
i loved the name too - it reminded me of home because it shares a name with my local little corner cafe in glebe where i´ve spent a lot of time over the last 4 years discussing life the universe & everything with friends
