Technique OOB (Out of Border)
I found a similar shot by Cindy Farr Weinfeld and wanted to try it. Her shot is better but I learned a lot.

Woke up this morning at about 4am for a 6am sunrise. I was thinking about heading to Scarborough Beach as I have never been there to shoot. From google earth it looked like there would be a pretty good hike on the beach to get to the rocks I wanted to photograph so I gave myself plenty of extra time. Turns out it was a good thing that I had that time as it appears there is no easy way to get into the park before opening. The gates to the parking lot are closed unless you hold a 24 hour pass and there is no street parking until Sept. 15th. Rather than risk a towed car (I have seen surfers parked here sometimes, but I would be the only one parked here this morning making me fairly conspicuous) I decided to try option number two. There are a few Portland Head Light shots that I have been running through my head for about a week now so I headed that way. The spots would be accessible at all but the highest tide. Checked my phone on the way over and of course, high tide was at 6am... That left me just enough time to get to choice number 3, OOB. Luckily got there just in time to park and run. This is the second series of shots I took that morning.
Sunrise was one of those intense color, no detail in the clouds kind of sunrise so I used the pier to break up the solid colors. Seemed to have worked out ok, this is easily my favorite OOB shot I have taken.
I took this last fall out at the Jackson Bottom Wetlands Preserve... I had just gotten my Tamron 180mm Macro lens and wanted to see what kind of pics I could expect to get from it... I found that it has a very narrow depth of field and should be on a tripod because it is rather heavy to hold for a slow focusing lens... I have been seeing OOBs and decided that I needed to brush up on the technique... Had to dig out my instructions on how to get started but guess it worked out fairly well...

Stopped by a local museum today to check out the life size T-Rex on display...he is around 4 meters tall.
Somehow this reminds me of those wooden banana decorations that my husband likes. Oh, by the way, this is our first daffodil in bloom this year.
The original idea for this effect was from Charlie is Here
The "Master"......after many years I'm still getting ideas from his agile mind.

This is the second tutorial geared around the frame warping and a little more on shadowing using PS CS2. Also see below for the first tutorial on creating a OOB as well. Please let me know of any errors or if you have questions here.
My son gave me a camera that he no longer uses (Canon XTi) so I was shooting at the park. There are so many Shrikes there and this one gave me a nice pose.
