Bouvigne Castle, locally known as Kasteel Bouvigne, lies in a forest south of the city of Breda, in the province of North Brabant in the Netherlands.
Bouvigne Castle was first mentioned in 1554 as the property of a Jan van Brecht. It was described as a stately moated house. It had been built in 1548 by Jan to replace an older house. At that time it was called "Boeverie" or "Boeverijen" and was used as a farm. In the remainder of the 16th century the castle was enlarged until it got its present appearance.

The municipality of Drimmelen is a large, rural area in western Noord Brabant. Its northern border encloses the National Park The Biesbosch (wetlands) and to the south its border is formed by the increasingly important Mark river.
The six towns and villages of Drimmelen, Hooge and Lage Zwaluwe, Made, Terheijden and Wagenberg are situated in a typically agricultural area in which nature and recreation are strongly represented.
The transport route Rotterdam-Breda-Antwerp forms the municipality’s western boundary.
The municipality of Drimmelen is part of the province of Noord Brabant.
The municipality of Drimmelen covers an area of 48 square miles. The six towns and villages are home to 27,000 inhabitants.
Made is, with its 12,000 inhabitants, the municipal centre. There are many sub-regional facilities in the areas of small to middle sized commercial enterprises, health and education.
The young and dynamic municipality of Drimmelen (created in 1997) is working towards a future in which nature, water sports, cycle- and hiking routes play a central role. The administrative organisation is equipped, and policy is in place, to strengthen and expand this position.
Wish you all a very nice weekend

The ‘Saint Elizabeth Flood’ occurred in 1421. This disastrous flood led to the disappearance of 17 villages. An inland sea stretching from northwest of Dordrecht to southeast of Geertruidenberg was created.
Immediately after the disaster, land fell dry again. The flow of water carried sand and clay, which sank to the bottom. The inland sea became shallower and shallower. Eventually, patches of land emerged from the water at ebb tide and rushes started growing on them. These plants flourish with their roots in the water. People planted extra rushes so they could harvest them. The Biesbosch derives its name from this plant; it means “a forest of rushes”. More land appeared; the roots were less frequently in water, and the rushes were unable to flourish so well. Reeds were able to withstand this condition better and supplanted the rushes, giving rise to vast reed beds. Subsequently, willows started to grow and people used the branches to make furniture and other products. Willows grow better when they get less water, so the people built dikes to prevent the willows being inundated at flood tide. A piece of land with planted willows is called a griend.
The Mastbos (570 ha) is located south of Breda on the outskirts of the city, past the A16, near the Ruitersbos district in Breda South. It is the most famous and busiest forest in Breda and has great national fame. It gets its name from the many Scots pines that used to be called 'mast trees'. Among other things, ships' masts were made.
Wish you all a very nice weekend

Much of the Biesbosch is covered by water and is therefore lush with sedges and reed beds. A common plant is the marsh marigold, which blooms in the spring. This member of the buttercup family has adapted to the tidal movements. In the willow forests you can find many plants such as stinging nettles, orange balsam, yellow iris, cow parsley, hogweed, enchanter’s nightshade and amaranths growing luxuriantly. The Himalayan Balsam provides a real jungle-like atmosphere. Its pink flowers have a characteristic sweet fragrance.
Just an update about my absence.
Have received the computer back from repair on Friday 17 Aug.
I only had the same problems after an hour.
Tomorrow I will take it away again in the hope of good repair.
