SITE VISIT
Approached from southeast. The bottom of the windfarm track appears to have been relocated north, however good parking for a few cars has now been provided off the west side of the B979 at ~NO861908. Thereafter most of the walk was on the new windfarm road until very near the top with a short trot across the heather. The pillar is in good condition. Spider has replacement OS centre cap with raised small narrow letters. The flush bracket faces ESE, compass measurement 109°. Vented through NE and SW sight holes, innards filled with debris. Full 360° panoramic view from trig.

The elegant white footbridge across Ditton Brook that rises somewhere around Netherley and flows through Ditton Marsh before joining the Mersey at this point. Before its construction, the idea of walking from Hale to Runcorn along the river must have been out of the question if you weren’t carrying waders.

a rather surprising sight of a military jet plinthed almost in the middle of nowhere! This plane was originally for the RAF but was instead sold to the Dutch and after withdrawal has found its way to being plinthed outside the Alba Power facility in Netherley near Aberdeen
