I ran around the city photographing today because of the NATO Summit happening in Chicago currently. We ended up being in the middle of a protest and it was truly one of the most beautiful experiences of my entire life.

Schiphol - Amsterdam, 24 June 2025.

The Spanish Air Force sent a Falcon 900B to the Netherlands for a NATO summit in The Hague. It was a cloudy day.

It's a tight squeeze as Type 45 destroyer HMS Duncan is guided through a lock into Cardiff at the start of the NATO Summit.

The UK’s newest warship HMS Duncan sailed into Cardiff to provide an awe-inspiring platform for the NATO summit.

The sixth-in-class of the Royal Navy’s state-of-the-art Type 45 destroyers arrived in the Welsh capital late afternoon yesterday, expertly sailing through incredibly narrow berthing with just 70cm manoeuvring room either side.

Having recently been deployed to support the WW1 celebrations in Glasgow and hosting the BBC for the Commonwealth Games, Duncan is once again in the public and political eye.

Schiphol - Amsterdam, 24 June 2025.

A grey Gulfstream in a grey sky. MM62332 is C-550A of 71° Gruppo. A first visit to Schiphol.

The Italians came to the Netherlands for a NATO summit in The Hague.

This appears to be another vehicle from an English force supporting Gwent Police for the NATO Summit 4-5 September. Although "anonymous", it has no "Heddlu" on it (like the vehicles below it).

A long way from home. The NATO Summit is being held in Newport 4-5 September; about nine thousand police will be involved, about four times the strength of Gwent Police. So, we'll get by with a little help from our friends.

Along with 'Air Force One' and the two VC-32A's, US Marine Corps HMX-1 assets supporting President Barack Obama's recent visit to attend the NATO Summit meeting at the Celtic Manor in Newport were airlifted in to RAF Fairford aboard no less than five C-17 Globemaster III transports and two attendant USMC KC-130 Hercules.

Here left to right parked outside Fairford's B-2 Hangars are:

Sikorsky VH-60N 'Whitehawks' 163263 and 163261 along with Boeing MV-22B Osprey 'Tilt-rotors':

168289/3-03, 168327/8-09 and 168335/4-11.

Remaining hangared for all but about 15 minutes of the day was a fourth MV-22, seen in the gloom behind and reported as 168302.

Intriguingly the larger side code numbers on the MV-22's were applied since they arrived. Any ideas why?

All were unfolded and had their engines run and rotors tested prior to departing later to Newport to collect 'The Man' and his entourage.

More to come.

There were two C-32's in attendence - this one with 'call-sign SAM003' and 09-0016 which departed shortly after the President's VC-25A aka 'Air Force One' left later on Friday.
