Fish eating Robin is quite a novelty.

The American Robins' diets are primarily insects and worms in the summer months when those are common and abundant. But in the winter months, insects are hard to find.

In one of our city's parks, a small flock of robins that overwintered there was seen pulling minnows out of small ice openings near the edge of the pond that were partially frozen.

The lack of insect protein diet may explain why these resourceful robins had taught themselves how to ice fish, and found themselves an excellent food source in winter.

Over much of its range, short-eared owls occurs with the similar-looking long-eared owl. At rest, the ear-tufts of long-eared owl serve to easily distinguish the two (although long-eared owls can sometimes hold its ear-tufts flat). The iris-colour differs: yellow in short-eared, and orange in long-eared, and the black surrounding the eyes is vertical on long-eared, and horizontal on short-eared. Overall the short-eared tends to be a paler, sandier bird than the long-eared.

The short-eared owl occurs on all continents except Antarctica and Australia; thus it has one of the most widespread distributions of any bird. A. flammeus breeds in Europe, Asia, North and South America, the Caribbean, Hawaii and the Galápagos Islands. It is partially migratory, moving south in winter from the northern parts of its range. The short-eared owl is known to relocate to areas of higher rodent populations. It will also wander nomadically in search of better food supplies during years when vole populations are low.

Hunting occurs mostly at night, but this owl is known to be diurnal and crepuscular as well. Its daylight hunting seems to coincide with the high-activity periods of voles, its preferred prey. It tends to fly only feet above the ground in open fields and grasslands until swooping down upon its prey feet-first. Several owls may hunt over the same open area. Its food consists mainly of rodents, especially voles, but it will eat other small mammals such as mice, ground squirrels, shrews, rats, bats, muskrats and moles. It will also occasionally predate smaller birds, especially when near sea-coasts and adjacent wetlands at which time they attack shorebirds, terns and small gulls and seabirds with semi-regularity. Avian prey is more infrequently preyed on inland and centers on passerines such as larks, icterids, starlings, tyrant flycatchers and pipits.

There's not much water on the Salisbury Plain, so it's usually fruitful to hang out at any large puddles occupying tank tracks.

This term is ocupied much to negativ in my opinion. Sure, even in this photo, when I was waiting for the sunrise, everything seems to be a bit gloomy and the bright colours are all missing. Blue notes are influenzing everthing and giving the scenery a special mood. But blues doesn't have to be bad per se and more of this it doesn't have to be something, we need to be fear for. Its telling us to hold and to give more attention more to ourselves. That way it will be much easier to see the streak of light at the horizon what is assuring us, sun will rise again today as well.

Ich finde, dass dieser Begriff eindeutig zu negativ belegt ist. Sicher, auch hier auf diesem Foto, als ich auf den Sonnenaufgang wartete, erscheint alles noch etwas düster und es fehlen die leuchtenden Farben. Die blauen Noten mischen sich in alles ein und verleihen dieser Szene eine besondere Stimmung. Blues muss nicht per se etwas schlechtes sein und vor allem nichts, vor dem wir Angst haben müssen. Er fordert uns auf innezuhalten und uns selbst mehr Aufmerksamkeit zu schenken. Dadurch wird es leichter, den Lichtstreif am Horizont zu finden, der uns die Gewissheit bringt, auch heute wird die Sonne wieder aufgehen.

Actually I like the round straw bales much more than this one here. But as I recently saw this Lego for farmers close to my house, I could'nt resist. One benefit of this version is, that I could try another perspective, with a better oberview. Foresight never hurt anyone.

Eigentlich gefallen mir die runden Strohballen deutlich besser als diese hier. Als ich kürzlich dieses Lego für Landwirte in der Nähe meines Hauses gesehen habe konnte ich trotzdem nicht widerstehen. Der Vorteil von dieser Variante ist, dass ich hier mal eine andere Perspektive versuchen konnte, eine mit mehr Übersicht. Weitblick hat noch nie geschadet.

I have not been on as much because my wife was sick and a few other things, which made for busy times for me once again lol...

And wouldnt you know it, after she is slightly getting better I then turned sick.

Corona strikes again on us both you see.

So...I haven't been out much for new material and I decided to do a different edit on this majestic bird which is also a symbol of where I'm from. And what I stand for!

A brighter perspective than the other versions I had posted before.

We all in every nation live in very concerning days. Days described in a book but few pick it up. And in fairness I should more as well!
