Long exposure waterfront sunset with sun and sky reflection in the Ottawa river at Petrie Island, Ottawa (Orleans), Ontario, Canada
“In the heart of the forest, magic is not a thing to be found — it is a quiet whisper, reminding us that wonder never truly leaves the world.”

Another day off, another completely dry day, it's been a while....! spent a few hours along the shore of Coniston, not many people about today at all allowing for some good time spent relaxing and shooting without disturbance, just a gentle breeze about today with generally good conditions. The lack of service boats at this time of year is another bonus if you are out shooting, the steamer passed once which was great to watch and comes nowhere near the jetty.

Bamford Edge Hike Pt.2:
I've thus far avoided shooting any of the "classic" compositions in the Peak District, mostly as a deliberate choice as I often wonder "what can I really add to this that hasn't already been shown?"
This view however, captivated me and I felt compelled to shoot what I was seeing. The weather had drawn in creating a very moody atmosphere and amongst the gloom Ladybower sat looking like mercury in the bottom of the valley.
For those who don't know, this is shot on Bamford Edge looking north-east over Ladybower dam and reservoir. I've researched and attempted to find out the story behind the initials/lettering carved into the gritstone, but have drawn a blank, so if anyone knows I'd love to hear the story.

The morning mist had faded, leaving the Moselle valley calm and wide open.
From the upper trail of Niederburg, the world stretched out in soft tones —
a quiet breath between light and silence.

That would be an accurate description of what I was doing for the hour and a half leading up to this point, never mind it wont win any awards but this is my take on a moody Sunday morning view from Ramshaw rocks.
Falce Sottile,

The great pyramid of Rannoch Moor, half revealed, half surrendered to cloud.
Silence, wind, and granite — a mountain that does not perform, but endures.

The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.. Marcel Proust
Delicate branches reach across a muted sky, capturing a moment where nature pauses in quiet reflection. The bare trees, silhouetted against drifting clouds, evoke a timeless stillness.
There is serenity in the silence between winds, a soothing calm in the subtle shades of blue sky and brown trees.

This image is somewhat of a bonus for me as the visit here was a total washout, literally, I've posted another image from here a few days later earlier on my stream as I thought it was the only one I had managed to get, the weather was dry but the tide was out... This image is pretty much what I was after originally, this day it absolutely poured down and I ended up waiting in the rain with the camera covered with a waterproof backpack cover, just hoping for a break in the rain, getting soaked in the process... when I had checked my files I hadn't managed to get anything not ruined by the rain, such is life...
Oddly though when checking the images from that trip day a few files had somehow been mixed up and put right to the end of the folder out of sequence, this being one of them, not a clue why or how but I was made up to find this long exposure image with no rain spots and a lot of nice dark cloud movement during the bad weather, a bit of a phoenix from the ashes....
This is the remains of Hawkcraig Pier, Aberdour, Fife, looking out towards Inchcolm Island and behind that the Lothian coastine towards Edinburgh, after such a frustrating day weather wise I'm made up to have actually got something from it, even more so as I didn't think I had originally.

Moody, hazy landscape of Driftwood Beach on Jekyll Island Georgia USA, during a foggy day at the ocean
Me and Mols took ourselves off to Ogden to get out in the sunshine. As you can see by the above shot i took, the sun did not last long. Minutes before I took this shot the wind picked up, the sky turned dark and the heavens opened. But, by a miracle in minutes the sun was back out and Me and Mols continued on our sunny walk :-))
The Needle, Quiraing — one of the most dramatic and surreal landscapes on the Isle of Skye. ⛰️
Rugged cliffs, shifting light, and timeless Scottish wilderness — this place feels like stepping into another world. 🌿

A fleeting moment of light breaks through stormy skies over Luskentyre Beach on the Isle of Harris. Grasses dance in the coastal breeze as waves gently roll ashore, framed by distant mountains under dramatic clouds.
Even the stones here seem to breathe with the season — red, alive, and surrendering quietly to time.
