Decided to have a more real-world, current event interpretation for the prompt. To me, "Modernity" tries to capture current taste or time. Not a lot of style to this photo, but captures the current times, I feel. Taken in an empty office park.

When it comes to national park units related to battles of some sort, River Raisin ranks just above the bottom. It's similar to places like Brice's Cross Roads or Tupelo, only it's slightly larger than either of the other two, and there's an actual visitor center in an old house. The field where Frenchtown once stood looks ragged. The River Raisin Paper Company built a paper mill here in 1911, and the last of the mill's abandoned buildings stood until 2009. The state of Michigan declared this a historic site in 1956, and in 2009 the US government finally declared this the only national battlefield park dedicated to the War of 1812. There are long-term plans to rehab the site, but everything still has that new park smell.

Balenciaga and François Lesage

This exhibition examined the work and legacy of influential Spanish couturier Cristóbal Balenciaga, with over 100 pieces crafted by ‘the master’ of couture, his protégées and contemporary fashion designers working in the same innovative tradition.

East Asia between Tradition and Modernity, Brian Steininger/Asian Studies - Museum of Art. Artist Xiaoze Xie gives a personal tour of his exhibition to members of this course.
Since the mid nineties, Xiaoze Xie has created an impressive body of work. His sumptuously painted and conceptually rigorous paintings of stacks of newspapers, decaying books, museum libraries, and media images of current events have been exhibited extensively throughout the US and abroad. During this period, Xie has also created many works in other media including installations, photographs, and videos. Xiaoze Xie: Amplified Moments (1993-2008) is the first exhibition and publication to look closely at work from each series of paintings and works in other media.
