What a blast it's all been!

At the start I didn't want to commit to building one a day as it does take its toll (!) but I got bitten by the bug because of the overwhelming feel of creativity, fun and camaraderie you only get with everyone's concerted FebRovery creativity.

Thank you all for the great buggies, trucks, monster trucks, hot rods, rovers, drones, carriers, prowlers, loaders and transports, both serious and silly. I feel every year (this is my third) the inspiration and discourse around everyone's great builds really ups my own Lego game—and that is just brilliant.

So thank-you all!

...so, if we have a high-powered passenger sky-cruisers, then we also need something to carry the weights. It's how the 1959 Vapid Streamvan was born. Catchy and stylish streamline design had never been more ready for the fast deliveries and long-time travelling!

(okay, I know, I'm just bad at imitation of the advertisements)

Other renders will be published ASAP.

I never had the 928 so this was a heap of fun to do.

Couldn''t quite bring myself to fully de-stud it.

I think it looks awesome wingless as a rover - what do you think?

A lightweight frame and huge engine gave high speed thrills and (inevitably) spills.

Inspired by the game and Alego's speeders.

Mad Mike Marlborough's marvellously manoeuvrable machine.

Inspired by Alego's challenge to make small speeder ships using the 62743 blade as a base. There's a great gallery from last year here and the Brick Pirate thread here.

The colours were inspired by the F1 racing cars of my childhood in the 70s & 80s.

Most pilots would describe flying a C0034-S2 as similar to making a Rutenbahn Sandwhich with only your toes, while blindfolded and listening to Askreeen War Songs at 100 decibels. Were you to ask any of those pilots if they could name one still flying they would laugh in your face and tell you to joke around with some other sorry sod.

The C0034 was designed as a lightweight cargo jet with vertical takeoff and landing capabilities. The model was used for several years but never gained much appreciation as it was outclassed in nearly every regard by the more advanced C0102. During the years of the Raf Colony\'s expansion, the need for a small inter-planetary cargo shuttle inspired a few brilliant engineers (though early test pilots had other adjectives to describe them) ventured to retrofit the C0034 with two linear aerospike engines and maneuvering thrusters. The result was nothing less than abominabol and the engineers were promptly sacked.

The C0034-S was deemed unflightworthy and the project was sidelined for another decade until a new set of brilliant engineers decided to go out for drinks after work, got absolutley hammered and figured, why not just remove half of the internal structure and see what happens? The result, the C0034-S2, was light enough to fly but could only carry enough fuel for a few AU of travel, shelving it squarely in the disdainful categorey of \'rockhopper\'. Even worse, the ship was once-again outclassed (who are we kidding, it has never been anything else) as the VTOL system used air-breathing jet engines. Without an oxygenated atmosphere, hard landings were the only option.

Of course, an ultra-cheep rockhopper is the perfect workhorse of a Hibernia prospector! The Isadora has been around for decades and her crew insitsts she isn\'t going anywhere (although some will joke that that’s because she can’t fly).

-----------

Wowowow this build drained me. It took effort spread over all 30 days of my given month. She\'s nearly 8000 pieces with most of those going to the internal structure. I did not post any WIP pics over the month as I honestly never thought I would finish. I may post my sketches now.

The full model is available here. I don\'t have time to make more renders so feel free to explore the boat yourself! (Also, unlike my usual, only the VISIBLE parts are color-checked against Bricklink. Timing was tight.)

Finally, a huge thank you to -majortom- for test-building the working landing gear for this beast and giving me the confidence to move forward with the project!

Iris class was a response to increased pirate activity in Outer Worlds. She is not a true warship, just modified standart cargo hauler. Only military grade power, navigation and propulsion systems were added as well as point defence. Other systems were untouched. So Iris is not capable of fighting in combat, but interceptors based on the carrier are enough to lure away small pirate vessels from trade routes.

Test driving a captured Blacktron big bad boys' bike.

Captain Trevor Nel runs through navigation protocols in the Guadalupe's main control room. All equipment has passed inspection and the crew is eager to depart from Earth.

This scene was a lot of fun to make. My first attempt featured a room almost twice the length but I checked it against the inflatable habitat module in www.flickr.com/photos/161477478@N03/32223669748/in/datepo... and the proportions were all off. I started over and the two rooms and connecting junction in the above image fit the interior dimensions off the Guadalupe model.

Jim's Solar Surfer:

I've been meaning to make this for a while now. And I wasn't reminded about it until earlier on today.

Treasure Planet is one of my favourite Disney movies. It's a unique concept that had such a fantastic scale of world building to it.

My personal favourite scene is the solar surfer moment at the beginning of the film. It's such a great concept. And I always wanted to build a solar surfer in Lego.

It's a pretty straightforward build. Though sadly you can't manipulate the sails in Mecabricks. Hence why it's clipping through in certain areas.

A "little" scene built for the current "Your build in the world-famous LEGO House!" contest on LEGO IDEAS.

Diogenes Trexler was about to enjoy a pizza - the best in the galaxy, according to him - on Korvon, when a giant worm, attracted by the smell, appeared. Diogenes quickly opened a portal to flee, but didn't really think of where to go, so it's in the poor Morgan Birch's bathroom that his portal led.

To get a better look at the model, you can see it in 3D on Mecabricks.

Many years ago I lived in Japan for a short period of time. Unfortunately I have not had the opportunity to go back since then. But the desire to return to the land of the rising sun is strong and always present. About 6500 bricks. Computer rendering but only existing bricks were used.

A modern tree house inspired by a house by A.Masow Architects. About 4500 bricks. Computer rendering but only existing bricks/colors were used. Reference images.

The common transport workhorse of Hibernia is basically a tin box with a rotor. Most (including this one here) have been fitted with heavier jets and window-shields to "allow" flight during storms. Of course the air-breathing engines struggle when not within several kilometers of a stack so you won't see many of these out on the Tundra.

------

First time trying motion blur. I don't know if I'll find time to go back and take photos from different angles. This was another build that surprised me: I had the front access ramp planned out in my head based on this and it worked perfectly!

1382: Scary Laboratory

The last set of the 2002 Studios monster movies series. Scary Laboratory had quite a bit of charm back in the day. But for this revamp it needed some major updates.

While the set does focus more on interior details there was a bit of an exterior too. I focused both on interior design and exterior. Drawing inspiration from the castle designs in monster fighters and hidden side.

Sadly Mecabricks doesn't have the parts necessary for Frankenstein's Monster. So I had to improvise by merging parts together.

Of course the dressing room is included too, along with the gate and director.

So there you have it! A full revamp series for the 2002 studios horror wave.

7410: Jungle River

If my memory serves me correctly, this was my first orient expedition set I bought as a child (either that or the Aero Nomad).

The small steam boat was a pretty straightforward design, originally I wasn't going to include the cab/roof section because I looked at a few reference images and most river steam boats didn't really have a cab. But I added it in the end because it looked pretty nice.

The shrine I tried to base on a few different designs I had seen for Indian temples. I really didn't want to do the whole 'evil skull/temple of doom' look.

The top comes off to reveal a few Jewels inside.

Mecabricks doesn't have the newer alligator/crocodile piece. But in all honesty I prefer the classic version anyway

Base model Eiche VM-15 made by kiren_sun (flickr.com/photos/sovetskiy_medved/), modified and rendered by me under author's request and permission.

My friend Kiren asked me to revisit some of his unreleased builds while he's absent, so you may see more of it in my photostream from time to time. Yea, I'm slacking, but I'll still put some effort to make it at least a bit more than lackluster reupload of Kiren's work.

UKW Eiche is a cab-over-engine/forward control truck, based on East German IFA Robur. This particular modification was inspired by early Robur variants, produced in 1961-1968.

Partial (?) Success with Big Single Use(less) Panel Pieces (B'SUPPs)

I remember when these pieces first came out and thinking even then "What's the deal with these great big lumps?!"

Was I right? What do you think? What would you make with those honeycomb/grenade facet panels?

I'm pleased to announce that the V-X Vera is now officially a project on LEGO Ideas!

This has been a long time coming, but finally managed to block out enough time to perform the necessary structural overhaul to submit this as a formal endeavor.

Technically this got approved nearly a week ago, but syncing my main social media push for the weekend. Would like to also finish the Brutus before the end of the year but time is tight, as always, and I have other major projects I need to power down first.

A 3D view can be found here, on Mecabricks.

Many thanks to Locutus for telling me about LDD 4.3.11, which I now have running on my new laptop. I realise that the main reason that I prefer it to Sud.io is that the building area of the screen is twice as large and so it's easier to see what I'm making!

So after seeing how many of you loved my Cyberman helmet design I made on Mecabricks, I decided a suitable body needed to go with it.

Happy Spider-man day, everyone!

I made this render using Blender (yay . . . !), and the full story of the fig can be found here: mecabricks.com/en/models/VzvM7YrV2Jp

So lately I've been making a few Bionicle figure designs on Mecabricks. Most using merged elements mainly for the Kanohi masks.

Of course I knew I would have to make Teridax at some point and that day finally came.

The real beauty with this design is that it is almost fully buildable (with the exception of the mask made from merged parts and certain parts not in the correct colour).

The design is based on his movie style appearance which always looked better than the set version.

Eventually I may give him some wings too.

This is what happens when you need to cart a time-space-anomaly to another part of the planet.

This owes a lot to Crimso Giger's lovely cube build - I'd been thinking along the same lines (the scaffold truck was the original idea) and wanted to finish it - similarities be damned!

This was the most satisfying thing to build. I started with the large cockpit pieces and the traingular sign was the first part I tried to close the gap. It fits perfectly! The engine parts came immediately after and the harpoons filled the remaining spaces. All in all, only took several minutes to complete the exterior shaping!

It is a little smaller than would be realistic but I love it too much to change.

A digital "build" for once.

I made this with the help of Mecabricks and Blender.

For my first real Blender project I am kind of happy with it, but there are some rather big issues with it that I could not really fix.

I have another normal build in the works if you wondering, which I hope to finish soon...

Let me know what you think of this!
