The artist uses acrylic less and less often and then in soft tones: "They are not colored," comments Bührmann herself of her current work. Elke Bührmann finds inspiration everywhere: they can be old doors, house walls, rust, tree bark, stones, or they can be inspired by reading texts of painting and observing the works of other artists, as well as in nature and still with writing. Fragments of text and titles of the newspaper are transformed into small parables with a message that insinuates themselves with sagacity among the artist's paintings.

Non è vero che la realtà va rappresentata per come si vede. Ogni luogo ha la sua lente con cui essere osservato, una lente fatta di luci ed ombre, macchie e chiarori. E persino il cielo e le nuvole non sono gli stessi. Perché il cielo riflette la terra sotto di sé come uno specchio, e le nuvole sognano di essere tutto quello che attraversano da lassù.

It's not true that the reality has to be represented as it's seen. Each place has its own lens with which being observed, a lens made of lights and shadows, spots and flares. And even the sky and the clouds are not the same. Because the sky reflects the earth beneath like a mirror, and the clouds dream of being everything they cross from up there.
