Centre Point, a landmark skyscraper seen on a grey day in central London. Currently under reconstruction. Original architects: R. Seifert and Partners. Original construction completed in 1966.
Took this while recceing this interesting movie theatre in Bromley. Hopefully I can return when the lighting conditions are more favourable ...
I took a stroll round the Barbican Estate recently, and soaked up the omnipresent Brutalist architecture there.
It would be amazing to live there, if only I had the millions required to actually buy one of the flats these days!
Anyway, it was the perfect environment for me to get some nice shots with my tilt shift lens, even if the light was a little bland by the time I got there ...
Digging in a folder of older images not posted before, I found this long exposure of the More London area and the Shard, taken from the edge of Tower Bridge with my first DSLR, the Canon 550D.
I like the blues here and the glowing silver reflections in the Thames ...
In this period where I'm not really going out taking photographs much, I have returned to this spot several times with my camera, as it's not far from my flat in South West London.
After the previous image of this unique view of the city skyline, I wanted to capture it again at the end of a very clear day with a nice pure blue hour. It came out pretty well I thought ...
Another photo, from a slightly different angle, of the Viacom headquarters in Camden Town, North London. This one shows more details, including a shy tree hiding in the shadows.

I randomly discovered a completely new vantage point from which to see some of the cluster of new skyscrapers which form the skyline of the modern City of London.
This is the junction of Old Broad Street and Liverpool Street looking south-east. Nice to get the new towers underlined with some more classical architecture.
Another tricky view to capture due to the breadth of the scene, but made possible doing a handheld two-shot vertical panorama using the shift function of my 17mm tilt shift lens. The dynamic range was pretty harsh as well due to the very bright white blanket of clouds hanging across London this afternoon. I may try a return visit when the light is nicer ...

Dave because I had a great day of photography with my good friend Dave. That's him at the foot of the stairs.
Dave Bowman: Hello, HAL. Do you read me, HAL?
HAL: Affirmative, Dave. I read you.
Dave Bowman: Open the pod bay doors, HAL.
HAL: I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that.

Another photo of 20 Fenchurch Street, a 34 storey structure in the City of London, also referred to as The Walkie-Talkie Building because of its shape.

Oh, look at this gem I snapped in the heart of London—where Bart Simpson and a classic red double-decker bus decided to photobomb each other! In the background, there’s Bart, up to his usual mischief, scribbling “I WILL NOT MISS SEASON 36!” over and over on a giant blackboard, advertising The Simpsons’ latest season on Disney+. I mean, if Bart’s that desperate not to miss it, maybe I should set a reminder too—Season 36 sounds like a big deal! But honestly, I’m just picturing Bart sneaking into London, spray-painting blackboards, and then running off to grab a fish and chips while Marge yells at him from Springfield.
Meanwhile, the iconic red heritage bus in the foreground is just minding its own business, proudly rolling through the streets like it owns the place. I bet the driver saw Bart’s billboard and thought, “Blimey, even cartoon kids are obsessed with streaming these days!” Maybe the bus is on its way to pick up some Simpsons fans for a proper London tour—imagine Homer trying to squeeze into the top deck, shouting “D’oh!” every time they hit a speed bump. Anyway, this clash of Springfield chaos and London charm made my day—hope it tickles your funny bone too!

An image I've taken some time ago in London but never posted here. It's time for it to see the light of day and soon I'll be back with another image from the same location.

Architecture – Modern
This is a seventh series of buildings (some as photographed), glass panels, abstract shapes formed from buildings. Most are in London, although they could be any city. I have not named any building, nor have attempted to find Architects or Designers. I have just altered things to my own taste, nothing is sacrosanct, nothing lasts for ever, new ideas quickly become old as will these images be the moment I post them. Please enjoy.
One of my favourite of the 21st Century crop of skyscrapers to sprout up in the City of London.
This time I did use a tripod as the pavement here is fair game as far as I could tell and not under the jurisdiction of any zealous security guards!
It was nice to finally have a clear day in London after so much recent greyness. Also these interesting dappled clouds give the scene a slightly surreal quality.
The Old Royal Naval College can be seen in the foreground - designed by Wren and built between 1696 - 1712. It was described by UNESCO as - "finest and most dramatically sited architectural and landscape ensemble in the British Isles".
The light has been fantastic lately. All that unsettled weather and showers can, sometimes, be a good thing. In the background we can see City skyscrapers.

Here's another one of the oddly-shaped and amusingly named London skyscrapers which have sprung up in the past few year. This is the view along Blackfriars Bridge.
Always a challenge making sure not to overexpose the sky when it's really bright and grey like on this day, but it's always easier shooting in manual mode and using the histogram to get the best fit shutter speed to balance the lights and darks of the exposure range ...

Nothing better that a day out in London walking around exploring the sites, there are so many to choose from.
This is the majestic Shard, also referred to as the Shard of Glass which is a 72-storey skyscraper, designed by the Italian architect Renzo Piano, in Southwark, London

A stunning staircase in the heart of London...
Whilst shooting, folk just ambled up and down the staircase without appreciating its beauty. As photographers, we see differently i guess.
