- for outlanders, ‘both ends of the war’ refers to the fact that our war was fought against the Germans in Europe, and against the Japanese in the Pacific. Fighting a war on ‘two fronts’ is a classic bad thing.
My Dad’s front was the Pacific, fighting in a diesel submarine, the Skipjack (SS 184).
Also, the ‘Germans in Eupope’ is a simplification. The war was fought in North Africa, as well. I haven’t figured out why.

At the car at the Cathedral trailhead. We had planted Sarah's car there in the morning so we could start at Tenaya Lake and end at Cathedral trailhead. It was a 12.5 hour day. Note the smoke due to the fires in the area.

Over the course of our trip, a major wildfire (the so-called "Rim Fire") developed just west of Yosemite National Park in Tuolumne County. The fire, which began on August 17, had moved up to 6th on the list of California's largest wildfires and had charred nearly 200,000 acres by the time we did the TMC linkup on August 27. It was only 20% contained by this time, and the forecast predicted strong winds and hot weather, so it is likely it got even larger before it finally burned itself out. At the time we headed home, they had closed HWY 120 entering the west side of Yosemite National Park, ordered a mandatory evacuation for residences north of Old Yosemite Road, and closed some campgrounds and lodges. The raging blaze was expected to move farther into the park and threaten wildlife, giant sequoias, and the Hetch Hetchy Reservoir that provides most of San Francisco's water.

Jamrock for Japan was held on Monday April 18, 2011 at SOBs, New York, NY. This fundraiser to aid earthquake victims in Japan was hosted by David 'Squeeze' Annakie of LinkUp Media and Jamrock Magazine. Co-host was DJ Kevin Crown. Headliner of this event was Mr. Vegas. Other artistes who performed include: Under The Rasta Influence (URI), a reggae band, Red Fox, Rayvon, Screechy Dan, Yami Bolo, Beniton the Menace, Baby Chris, and Ed Robinson. There was a musical tribute by NY-based Japanese sound systems Yard Beat and King Jam. A well-attended great successful event for a great cause.

I'm finally playing in Stampers Delights Progressive Challenge. I deleted last month's email and couldn't retrieve it once I remembered. I received this adorable X-Mas Gift Parachute and used the tree image. I digitally colored it in Paint3D and added some sparkle to the bow and glossy accents to the ornaments.
