Liverpool Biennial's Marketing team heard 3rd year Graphic Design and Illustration students from LJMU present their ideas on how to develop the Creative & Marketing for Liverpool Biennial 2012.

The project presents students with the opportunity to understand how Liverpool Biennial has managed campaigns in 2008 and 2010 but above all, the opportunity to contribute to the life of an innovative marketing campaign with a global reach.

The portrait includes the saint's severely broken nose, which healed asymmetrically

The "most realistic" portrait of the saint who became Santa Claus has been produced at a Liverpool university.

Saint Nicholas was a 4th Century bishop who liked to give gifts secretly. His relics lie in Bari Cathedral in Italy.

The image of him has been created using a facial reconstruction system and 3D interactive technology by Liverpool John Moores University's Face Lab.

Professor Caroline Wilkinson said it was based on "all the skeletal and historical material" available.

The saint, who died in 343, was the Greek bishop of Myra. The town, now known as Demre, lies on the southern coast of Turkey.

He was said to have left secret gifts, such as putting coins in shoes that were left out for him, leading him to be the model for Father Christmas.

A spokeswoman for the university said the new depiction uses "the most up-to-date anatomical standards, Turkish tissue depth data and CGI techniques".

It also includes Saint Nicholas' severely broken nose, which she said had "healed asymmetrically, giving him a characteristic nose and rugged facial appearance".

Revealing the portrait on the saint's feast day, 6 December, Prof Wilkinson said it was "thrilling to be able to show the face of this famous bishop".

My walk today, not quite as wet as others this week, saw me head down towards Vauxhall.

That took me across Byrom Street, and over the crossing right outside the big LJMU building.

I'm assuming that they can't trust university students to use a pelican crossing, so it comes with special instructions - only cross on the green man!

In fairness, the junction isn't the easiest to read and traffic can be fast moving. It's not a daft warning.

Liverpool John Moores University.

Corner of Hope Street and Mount Pleasant, Liverpool.

Liverpool John Moores University (abbreviated LJMU) is a public research university in the city of Liverpool, England. The university can trace its origins to the Liverpool Mechanics' School of Arts, established in 1823. This later merged to become Liverpool Polytechnic. In 1992, following an Act of Parliament the Liverpool Polytechnic became what is now Liverpool John Moores University. It is named after Sir John Moores, a local businessman and philanthropist, who donated to the university's precursor institutions.

The Grade II-listed building on the corner of Hope Street and Mount Pleasant dates back to the mid-19th century and is formerly a Catholic teacher training college that was run by the Sisters of Notre Dame. It is now the home of LJMU’s School of Humanities and Social Science.

John Foster Building Liverpool

John Foster Building, Liverpool John Moores University. This was formerly the Notre Dame Convent. The facade to the left faces Hope Street. Seen from across Mount Pleasant. The convent was designed by Charles Hansom, and the chapel by Matthew E. and Charles Hadfield was added to the rear in 1865–67. The convent is essentially Georgian in style, and the chapel is Gothic. Both are in brick with slate roofs, and the entrance face is in five bays. The building has later been used by the Liverpool John Moores University. A grade II Listed Building.

If anyone can give me the Grade II listing reference, I would be most grateful. So far I have not been able to find it.
