This suit of black and white armour was produced in Nuremberg, Germany circa 1550.

This style of armour was known as "munitions grade" armour. It was produced in large quantities and to standardised designs during the 16th and early 17th centuries. This large scale production meant the armour was significantly cheaper to produce than traditional tailor made suits of armour. As a result, large swathes of infantry and cavalry were equipped with this style of armour during the period.

The suit is a composite piece, with the complete suit being made up of pieces from different eras. The torso and upper arm sections are believed to date from roughly 1550. The rear breastplate has been stamped to indicate that it was produced in Nuremberg.

The gauntlets are of later origin, and are believed to date from roughly 1640, and were also likely produced in Southern Germany. The leg sections of the armour are believed to be later Victorian reproductions, added in order to make a more aesthetically pleasing complete suit of armour.

The suit of armour is constructed of interlocking steel plates, held together by leather straps with brass buckles. The Cuirass is decorated with bands of lighter polished armour set against unpolished, dark areas. This style of decoration is typical of the "black and white" style armour of the 16th century.

The suit comprises of the following individual pieces:

A Burgonet style helmet with a protruding peak above an open face. Two cheek flaps hang either side of the helmet and are tied by leather straps. A low crest runs along the top of the helmet and terminates in a plume support at the helmet's rear.

A Gorget, protecting the neck and shoulders is attached by harnessing to articulated Spaulders, which protect the upper arm.

A Cuirass with breastplate and backplate (protecting the torso). The breastplate has a medial ridge which rises to a point over the stomach and is decorated with a black and white style design. The backplate features a matching design and has been stamped to indicate it was manufactured in Nuremberg.

Each leg is made up of four pieces of armour: A long, articulated Cuisse (thigh and upper leg guard) which attach to the base of the Cuirass, Poleyn (knee guard), Greave (lower leg and calf guard) and articulated Sabatons (foot guards).

The suit also features two Bridle Gauntlets, which protect the hands.

a helmet, neck- and shoulder-guards, chest- and back-plates

secured by knotted ropes, a flared shirt over tight arm-guards

or sleeves, and leg-guards under a sweeping skirt. This elabo-

rate uniform was largely hand-modeled in clay; after firing,

artisans added geometric and floral designs in colors and

gold pigment. Such unglazed, painted figures are among the

rarest and most carefully fashioned sculptures to be discov-

A suit of German style plate armour, likely to have been manufactured in Southern Germany circa 1600.

The suit is a composite piece, consisting of original pieces from c.1600 in addition to Victorian reproduction pieces. It is likely that the upper half of the suit, consisting of helmet, torso and arm guards date from c.1600. Whilst the leg sections, buckles and straps were added in the Victorian period in order to make a complete suit of armour.

Throughout the later Medieval period, the use of armour became more and more widespread, and plate armour such as this suit were widely adopted. By the 15th and 16th century plate armoured infantry formed the nucleus of most armies.

Plate armour was largely manufactured in the regions of southern Germany and northern Italy. This particular suit was likely produced in southern Germany before eventually making its way to Lichfield.

The suit of armour is constructed of interlocking steel plates, held together by leather straps with brass buckles. The edging of each piece of plate has been decorated with a hatched engraving, this is believed to have been done during the Victorian period.

The suit lacks a helmet and set of gauntlets but is otherwise complete. It consists of:

A Gorget, protecting the neck;

A Cuirass with breastplate and backplate (protecting the torso) a lance rest in the shape of a hook is attached to the right side of the breastplate. Left and right articulated Tassets to protect the hips and upper thighs are attached to the underside of the cuirass.

Each arm is made up of four pieces of armour: A Pouldron (shoulder guard), articulated Rerebrace (upper arm guard), Couter (elbow guard) and Vambrace (lower arm guard).

Each leg is made up of four pieces of armour: A cuisse (upper leg guard), articulated Poleyn (knee guard), Greave (lower leg and calf guard) and articulated Sabatons (foot guards).

The Gejia (Chinese: 家人 or 革家人; Hanyu pinyin: Géjiārén; also Gedou) is an ethnic group of Guizhou province, southwestern China. They are officially classified by the government as a part of the Miao, but have separate status in Guizhou. The Gejia live mainly in Qiandongnan Prefecture, in the counties of Huangping, Kaili, and Guanling. They are concentrated in the towns of Chong'an, Chong Xing, Huangpiao in Huangping and Longchang, Wanshui of Kaili. Matang is exclusively inhabited by these people. There are over 400 inhabitants in this village. The total Gejia population is approximately 50,000.

The major occupation among the Gejia people is farming. They practice slash-and-burn methods of cultivation, with rice, corn, and millet being their major crops. The women are typically focused on embroideries and batik. Their handicraft style dates back to the Qin dynasty (221–207 BCE), the first dynasty of a unified China and the group sells the items to visitors. The people are most noted for their batik products. Girls are taught the technique at a young age.

The dress code of the women has a cultural symbol, particularly signifying the warfare of their ancestors. The head dress is a representation of the Sun and the arrow, while the shoulders and back are covered with thick wools like shawls that represent shields. They cover their legs with leggings as leg guards and the clothes are made in white and red patterns, and decorated with silver ornaments. They practice animism, and make offerings to appease invisible spirits to prevent diseases, calamities and death, and to make a good harvest.

A major festival among the Gejia is Caiqing. It involves a dance called Caiqing Wu (Wu for "dance"), which is a dance of romance. It is held in the first lunar month. Gejia women wear colourful festival dresses, including batik scarves, silver necklaces, pleated skirts, aprons and leggings. There is also a lusheng festival (similar to that of Miao) held in November where the boys play a series of bamboo pipes called lusheng. They perform bird fight and antiphonal singing.

This suit of armour, which measures just over a metre in height has been designed to be worn by a child.

In Medieval Europe, education in the techniques of warfare started early, and introducing a child to the weight and feel of armour was considered an invaluable part of this training.

However, far from being the armour of a Medieval Prince, this suit of plate armour is a Victorian reproduction piece, dating from roughly 1890.

Gothic revival was one of the prevailing design styles during the Victorian period. This style stressed Medieval designs and themes, and suits of armour became a key component of fashionable interior design. The problem for fashionable Victorians though was that there simply wasn't enough authentic, medieval armour to go around. The answer was to produce imitation pieces such as this child's suit of armour.

The suit of armour is constructed of interlocking steel plates, held together by leather straps with brass buckles. Each section has been decorated with a floral etched design. This floral design is held within bands which run vertically down each section of armour.

The suit lacks a helmet and set of gauntlets but is otherwise complete. It consists of:

A Gorget, protecting the neck.

A Cuirass with breastplate and backplate (protecting the torso), with attached Faulds and left and right articulated Tassets to protect the hips and upper thighs.

This accomplished casting, enlivened with silver inlay, is the finest bronze figurine of Mars from Roman Britain. The Roman god of war is shown in characteristic warlike attire. He wears the armour of a general - an elaborate helmet, sheet metal leg guards (greaves) decorated with thunderbolts and an embossed chest plate (cuirass) moulded to the form of the body. He would originally have held a spear and shield.

This Bullet is officially the most beat up bike I've road. The ignition constantly popped out, no speedo, no rear lights or signals, dripping much oil, and dents all over. The right leg guard was completely collapsed, the bike has obviously been dropped many times! The foot pegs were gone and replaced with a chincy pole that wasn'tt even affixed to the bike (it rolled back and forth). Oh, and the brakes were so bad, they couldn't stop the bike from rolling backwards when going up!
