Arrived after a long flight in San Francisco. A quick visit to Fisherman's wharf and then sleep!

A description of Jet Lag from William Gibson's "Pattern Recognition"

"Her mortal soul is leagues behind her, being reeled in on some ghostly umbilical down the vanished wake of the plane that brought her here. Souls can't move that quickly, and are left behind, and must be awaited, upon arrival, like lost luggage."

I have been checking up on you all since we got home about eight hours ago, I'm just not trusting myself to be rational yet.

The competing blur of red and green lights in the night and the command from the billboard to "Focus" say "jet lag" to me, which was this week's FlickrFriday challenge. Woodhaven Blvd. in Queens, NYC -- September 6, 2014

Reposted for 7 Days With Flickr group's "Crazy Tuesdays/Martes Locos" theme: signs, billboards, or advertisements. I took this photo nearly 4 years ago while driving. The billboard company posted a series of clever, eye-catching posters to attract attention to its own billboards. This one seemed most appropriate for this theme. :)

Took this on the 1st evening of our recent family holiday to the Pacific NW to visit my wife's brother Alastair & his family. 'Uncle Al' accepts no excuses when it comes to overcoming jet-lag so while the rest of my family crashed out in our hotel room Al took me to his favourite whisky bar on Commercial Drive. I took this at about 10pm which was the equivalent of about 7am for me back in the UK and I'd been up for about 24hrs...

(gotta view it large)

okay, so I skipped a few days of posting photos from our trip, but we landed in LA this morning (9:00?) after about 20 hours of flying/layover and we are a little zombie-ish. I'm trying to stay awake as long as I can to adjust back to pacific time, so I decided to play with all my new toys!

I took this picture to catalog most of the stuff I bought, since a lot of it is for gifting and I want to remember where it all came from while it is fresh in my mind.

I am proud of my willpower - we saw some incredible things in shops (the antique and vintage toyshops are insane) but I only spent about $600-800 during the whole trip (not counting hotel, plane, shinkansen - just food, entertainment and stuff.).

the pixellated stuff is because they are gifts for someone on my flickr list.

Due to the fires in the Napa and Sonoma counties the atmosphere was pretty smoky and hazy those days. I was awake due to the jetlag and drove straight to Battery Spencer to see how the Bay and the Golden Gate would look like. Downtown San Francisco was not even showing.

Worst jetlag I've ever had....

So confusing...

I woke up early in the morning (around 4:30 AM) due to jetlag and saw, from my hotel room, the shining full moon just about to set in over Waikiki Beach, Honolulu, Hawaii.

My apologies that I haven't posted any photos from the big Tokyo photowalk I did with my Flickr friends back in November yet... I ended up not taking many photos, and what I did take didn't turn out well at all. Jetlag and a late night of punk rock before our walk meant I was far from productive. Oh well. That's OK, because for me, a good photo sanpo is more about seeing old friends and meeting new ones than it actually is about taking photos. So I'm considering my special day exploring Tokyo with 20 or so of my friends an overwhelming success regardless!

Thanks so much to Kiyoshi-san and Akira-san (he made this super cool map) for all of their help planning our sanpo route! And a big round of thanks to Ando-san, Chie-san, Chikako-san, Daren, Eriko-san, Kaori-san, Katsushi-san, Kimiko-san, Lonny, Masahiro-san, Mimizuk-san, Sakaguchi-san, Saito-san, Shinobu-san, Takahiro-san, Takashi-san, Yoshikatsu-san, and Yumiko-san for joining us for a day of fun as we followed along the Toden Arawaka Line! JR Mejiro Station, Toshima-ku, Tokyo. November 23, 2015.

By the way... I'll be back for sanpo again in early November. Get in touch if you want to join me and my friends or if you have a great idea for a sanpo route!

I miss you so bad ...

A quite mundane day, but one that was filled. Got up early (I'm still suffering from jetlag) to let the man in, who was inspecting the solar panel work. Nice bloke - he spotted something about the wiring of my boiler that would help the electrician later in the week who's coming to fit a remote control and he fixed it without question. Had a good geeky chat about wireless home gadgets. Then I went off to buy some bits and pieces for the bathroom - the panel is coming on Friday, all being well so I should be good by the weekend. A CD of Jane Birkin's "Birkin-Gainsbourg - La Symphonique" that I saw at Carnegie Hall last Thursday (It seems ages ago) arrived and so I spent some time with that. Caught up on "Hunting Hitler" series 3 and "Rome Unpacked" and generally just chilled. The greyness of the picture is symbolic of the greyness of the day.
