Liverpool ONE is a shopping, residential and leisure complex in Liverpool, United Kingdom.

The project, previously known as The Paradise Project, involved the redevelopment of 42 acres (170,000 m²) of underutilised land in Liverpool city centre. It is a retail led development, anchored by department stores Debenhams and John Lewis, with additional elements including leisure facilities (anchored by a 14-screen Odeon cinema and 36-hole adventure golf centre), apartments, offices, public open space and transport improvements. The completion of Liverpool ONE has significantly boosted the local economy as well as lifted Liverpool into the top five most popular retail destinations in the UK. Liverpool ONE is the largest open air shopping centre in the United Kingdom and the 10th largest overall.

I was out this morning with a number of other people watching a Parasitic Jaeger loafing out in the water and occasionally flying up and down the beach. During one of its passes along the beach, the jaeger, in pursuit of a gull, dropped to the shallow water near where we were standing and perched for a moment before taking off again. Jaws dropped at the sight of this very rare bird perched so close to us. I already had my camera raised and tracking the jaeger as it flew by, trying to get flight shots, which were turning out to be too challenging with this swift bird, so when the jaeger hit the water I was already poised for a shot. I managed just two frames at 8 fps before the bird took off. I know this is not the best shot, but for a bird this rare

Although it was a lemming year, no Pomarine Jaegers stuck around our site to breed. After the first few weeks in June, this species was primarily a transient at the Ikpikpuk. Dark morphs were greatly outnumbered by light morphs, and probably represented <10% of all sightings here. My peak season count was on 6/25, when 14 light-morph birds cruised through. I was honored when one of my flickr friends asked me to make custom ornaments of her three gorgeous Weimaraner girls. What a pleasure it was painting each of these beautiful dogs!

It's a strange combination, I know. Who would mix Strawberry with Jaeger? I guess it probably doesn't taste good, but it sure is pretty!

This is Jaeger, my father-in-laws German Wirehaired Pointer. His special, wiry coat keeps him warm and dry in the water. He's a born hunter and has lots of energy. He's fiercly loyal to my father-in-law, and protects him above all else. This was his first time camping at Strawberry Reservoir, and he had a splash...I mean blast!

The inset has been lightened and the contrast increased to show the undertail and underwing pattern. Note the bill and tail tip as well.
