Description: To internalize materials, cells use a process called endocytosis. During endocytosis, extracellular material that binds to the cell surface, such as signaling molecules are internalized into membranous vesicles. These vesicles can then undergo complex intracellular trafficking to reach various destinations. Shown here are epithelial cells in the developing fruit fly wing epithelium undergoing exaggerated endocytosis. The large, dramatic vesicles were artificially induced by transgenic overexpression of a signaling molecule (green) and its receptor (magenta).

Self-objectification is a phenomenon that describes how women internalize the hurtful and invasive cultural messages about their bodies and begin to view themselves as objects for others to look at and judge. This often leads to negative body image, low self-esteem, and mental health issues.

This pair of shoe conveys my feeling and attitude towards the objectification exposures. I wish to take this as an approach to inspire women to fight back against these harmful societal expectations, to empower women to have the courage to be themselves, to reject unrealistic standards of beauty, and to embrace their bodies as they are.

Your body is yours, and you have the power to define it on your terms.

Kenny Barron. "The poetry of the piano" (Jazz)

For a jazz pianist, facing the piano face to face is an intense exercise in reflection, a reckoning with his baggage in music, a profound internalization process and, above all, a conversation with himself or Conversations with Myself (Verve, 1963), the famous album by Bill Evans, the jazz impressionist, an experience that he would repeat on albums such as Further Conversations with Myself (Verve, 1967), Alone (Verve, 1968), Alone Again (Fantasy, 1975) or New Conversations (Warner, 1978).

Keith Jarrett, a great fan of this kind of face to face with the piano to the point that it could be said that it was his usual mode of expression, has left us excellent albums, among others, The Köln Concert (ECM,

For artist Shaquona Espinoza, photography is used to depict the reality of the negative effects of colorism in the Black Community. As someone who is a light skinned Black woman, she decided to use her privilege to focus on the internalized racism, criminalization and dehumanization that happens to darker skinned men and women. Before taking photos, Shaquona talked with people within her community to share their truth about their realities with colorism. When taking these photos, she decided to deface each of her subjects so that it can uphold its relatability to individuals within the Black community.

I arrived at the intersection a few moments after she died, only a yellow tarp to protect her lifeless form from the rain. The driver of the Hummer that struck her down down is in custody being tested for alcohol... I hate hearing these incidents being called accidents when "accident" inplies there was no cause & "oops" is appropriate. We decide each day a multitude of actions some of them with unintended consequences. The truth we need to internalize is that we made a decision and could we have made a better one for both us and the ones around us.

He has given me his permission to reproduce it on a mug. The mug was thrown by John, the drawing and painting on the mug was done by me.

This is the final product after being clear glossed and fired. These are different angles of the mug.

One of my earlier peices. It is a self portrait, though it is outdated. I made this around... 17? 18?

The squares represent my own desire for control and balance in life, forced into shape, but imperfect, for total control is impossible. The squares are placed strategically in how they relate to one another. I will let you try to interpret that part!

The center red square is the main boundary around the individual. A thin line that is my mental boundary, creating an inside and outside to my existance, thin to represent how I imagine it is much easier to cross over, move between, internalize and externally manifest than we realize. Wrapped in Red thread - red for blood, thread for binding of the flesh and soul. I am me, all of me.

The paper is growing knowledge that I need to add to continually to move forward and higher in my life and personal growth.

The patchwork is my colorful childhood and family connections, that were collected and eternalized in how I act and connect with others. The people in my life make up my heart and I can add to it at any time.

The cardboard is my humanity, my flimsy, weeping humanity, often taken for granted, assuming our existence is sturdy and we are safe, but we are physically and mentally more fragile than we want to admit.

The barbed wire is my protection, like spines of a porcupine. I don't share my pain easily, and I often try to protect myself from it too. Few people I openly let past that guard.

The wood is for my work ethic. I value my work and I care excessively over it, I work for myself and for my family and friends, and it is laborious and I don't let up on myself.

The battle was over. The two of them left the scene of the battle. Communications with the resistance were re-established as Arthur and Maria's suits repaired and recharged themselves. The heavy news was delivered: Doctor Hayashi had been captured.

Arthur simply found himself overwhelmed, "I couldn't even save him."

Maria sat next to him, "Wrong, we can still save Hayashi. He'll be held and interrogated, but he'll be alive for the time being." Arthur could barely keep himself composed, "Why did you make me kill those people back there?"

Maria replied, quite flatly, "They would surely have killed us." Arthur sat in silence, Maria decided to continue talking. She wasn't exactly sure what she was going to say, but the words came anyway, "You weren't responsible for their deaths, Arthur, I was. I made that call. What happened back there had little to do with you. You were trying to save them."

Arthur continued to sit there in silence, Maria continued, "I read your file. You were enrolled in a spiritual guidance course. I guess you wont be going back to that any time soon. The file read that you doubted your own morality because you couldn't believe in the god that the Divinity Party presented to you. Well... Those four men believed in that god. They didn't hesitate in trying to murder you. I believe in a god, but I was the one that used you as a tool to kill those men."

Arthur lifted his head from his hands. Maria felt she needed to say a few more words, "You've been the most compassionate person through out this mess. You spared the lives of the men at the AOC facility, and more importantly you spared mine. If anything, you're the one that can teach us about compassion. You're the one that can teach us a thing about what being good is. Maybe the rest of us try to compensate with something that's really unnecessary."

Arthur let Maria's words internalize for a while. He could see what she said was true. He was good without God.

Arthur picked himself up, Maria did the same. Arthur spoke, "You know better than anyone where Doctor Hayashi would be taken. Lead the way!"

This workshop is part of a continuing series of workshops for APIAs and other communities of color. How have we accepted dominant cultural stereotypes of who we are, and how have we accomodated our behaviors and beliefs in order to fit in?

Today’s (7th April, 2015) Nithya Satsang on Ishavasya Upanishad in Living Advaita Series. Paramahamsa Nithyananda gives a radiant revelation into 8th verse, which are definitions of ‘you’ given by Upanishads. As an Incarnation, embodying the pure spiritual tradition, he defines a ‘Hindu’ as a person who has already cognized about ‘you’ or working towards altering your cognition about ‘you’ as Consciousness as per this verse — ‘Pure Consciousness is all-pervasive, beyond coming and going’ — so ‘I am birthless, deathless.’ And ‘Absolute Radiant, Self-effulgent’ so nothing needs to give me joy or excitement. I am self-alive, self-bliss.’ He makes it clear that he wants the Upanishads to become a Realization in us, which is the ultimate solution for everything. So, just manana, internalization, digging out our patterns that deny our existence; can melt down millions of incompletions into few patterns, one ignorance, and suddenly we can realize we are enlightened, Consciousness. Isha Upanishad – Verse 8 sa paryagāc-chukram akāyam avraṇam asnāviram śuddham apāpa-viddham | kavir manīṣī paribhūḥ svayambhūr yathātathyato-arthān vyadadhāc-chāśvatībhyaḥ samābhyaḥ || 8 || Today’s Vākyārtha Sadas, topic for spiritual explorations on truth is – how each one of us can raise our cognition about ourselves as Hindu, by cognizing ourself as Consciousness as the Upanishad describes and declare. You neither come and go, you are beyond that. What is that which makes me believe I come, I go – pen down and discuss those patterns. And tomorrow, you can take up the next definition – ‘Absolute Radiant, Self-effulgent’– means ‘svayam prakasha’, nothing else needs to glorify me or give me joy, give me excitement. Let’s work on Upanishad 8th verse, one by one, you will see suddenly in 3-4 days, beautifully you will understand. What else do I have as my experience about me, where am I denying my existence as Upanishads declare about me. Activity Description - Supporting U.S. Department of State Reporting and Outreach:

Continuing the English club/teaching methodology workshop series at Nampula Secondary School in Nampula, Mozambique, ELF Chad LaRoche conducted a half-day workshop for local secondary school teachers focused on preparing and scaffolding students' learning processes in order to be successful in communicative activities. After discussing the teachers' own knowledge and experiences of what makes an activity communicative, the group was immersed in a sample vocabulary lesson using the ECRIF (Encounter/Clarify/Remember/Internalize/Fluency) framework. Activities built in complexity before culminating in a real-life, communicative speaking activity, after which the group processed the whole experience. The second half of the workshop was dedicated to experiencing four dynamic vocab activities that could be adapted to any target language and level, and plugged into the ECRIF framework.

In Your Own Words - Describe Your Experience:

One interesting moment of this workshop came during the processing of the ECRIF sample lesson, when one participant was concerned about the timing/staging of the lesson and how he could feasibly squeeze a lesson involving many activities within a 45 minute lesson. A light seemed to go off with the participant as I suggested this method of preparing students for communicative activities is ideal for an English club setting, where you have more time, flexibility, and room to experiment in working with beginner language learners. A common thread for this workshop series is to encourage the development of English clubs that cater to lower-level students, so my hope is this was an encouraging and useful tool, in addition to a fresh way to look at the learning/teaching process! Also, the dynamic vocabulary activities were a hit: 1) Backs to the Board 2) What's Missing?: Hiding vocab items behind a blanket while one participant takes one and others have to guess what's missing 3) Who Can Say it First?: Dropping a blanket to reveal a hidden object and participants have to shout to say it first 4) Hop Game: check it out here www.youtube.com/watch?v=H71CWvWa_oM

Andrew Wyeth - 1917 - 2009

The watercolors in this show reflect Andrew Wyeth’s career-long project of transforming his subjects into forceful and compelling meditations on how we conceptualize what we see. The visual power of each painting relies on simple contrasts between dark and light. Much like ancient Chinese calligraphy or modern abstract expressionist techniques, Wyeth’s intuitive, efficient brushstrokes internalize the dynamic energy of gesture as they simultaneously define and anchor each composition’s overall structural framework. The viewer’s eye sees only what is necessary to construct meaning from experience.

Inspired as a teenager by the watercolors of Winslow Homer, Wyeth struggled to replicate the master’s rendering of atmospheric effects. In 1937, only one year after painting Tending the Net, Wyeth enjoyed commercial success with a sold-out exhibition of watercolors in New York City. By that time he had abandoned Homer’s tidy realism for a more expressive, color-saturated style. The work exhibited here exemplifies the maturing artist’s restless experimentation with paint application and texture that ultimately achieved an emotional status for the most mundane objects and environments.

My grandmother passed away when I was 14. I don't think she has any biological relationship with my mother and I, but I never managed to understand what happened to the adults. I just remember I heard my mother crying the night we're back from hospital after saying goodbye to her. I remember I heard my mother saying, "We've been together so many years after all, how can I not feel sad?"

Since I moved here when i was 15, I never really thought of it as my home. Probably because I don't grow up here, I never feel like belonging to here. But that's how human behavior becomes interesting - you stay here long enough, you become a lot more attached to here than you have ever imagined.

I was taking a few snapshots of this small room before I started packing things, and then I remembered who was once here with me in this room, watching volleyball news on sina.com.cn while I was preparing myself for the late lunch on Saturdays. I didn't realize until just now I am going to say goodbye to all these memories very soon.

And I didn't realize until just now this house-moving indeed marks the end of the year long post-breakup activities.

Saying goodbye is never easy but sometimes it's necessary. Looking back, I have never regretted that I suggested it's better sooner than later should we had to break up. I may feel sad for quite some time, yet I know I will feel relieved whenever I know I have made this decision correct & practical - someone taught me so, and I have proudly internalized this wisdom throughout all these years. Goodbye to you, goodbye to my 20s. Hello to my new room, hello to the new year.

The Capital Market Authority (CMA) in partnership with International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group host a breakfast meeting themed “Corporate Governance; the pathway to sustainable business growth in Rwanda” on Wednesday, November 16th , 2016 to raise awareness on issues related to Corporate Governance as a sustainable driver of business growth.

Good corporate governance practices will attract investors to emerging markets’ businesses and address the barriers to access long term funding with lower transactions costs and hence lower cost of capital. Increased access to capital encourages new investments, boosts economic growth, and provides employment opportunities.

The Executive Director of Capital Market Authority (CMA), Robert Mathu stressed that “IFC has consistently cooperated with CMA in helping companies in Rwanda to explore capital markets as a source of long-term finance. A key prerequisite to access capital from public markets is to adopt and internalize corporate governance practices to instill confidence among investors.”

The work exhibited here exemplifies the maturing artist’s restless experimentation with paint application and texture that ultimately achieved an emotional status for the most mundane objects and environments.

Growing up in central/upstate NY, this was a fairly common sight on any drive outside of Syracuse. Seeing this over and over again, however beautiful, stuck with me. Upstate NY's landscape is dotted with buildings like this, left to decay after the small farm has closed down. I tend to internalize loss like this - the spaces turned over, the people leaving it. Would they be happier if they could have stayed and worked the land? Is it just that not everyone can manage a business like a farm? I don't know, but this is why I finally joined a CSA (community supported agriculture).

Behavior Problems in children are common. There are different types of behavior problems. One kind of problem is internalizing, while the other is externalizing. An internalizing problem affects the child's inner world, while an externalizing problem affects their external world. Both types of behavior can be disruptive to a child's life and their family's life. However, there are some signs and symptoms of both types. In addition to learning disabilities, the most common causes of behavioral problems in children are related to the way they think and feel.

When a child misbehaves, you should be worried about the behavior. A behavior disorder is a serious issue and should be treated as such. While it's normal for your child to act out, it is important to keep a cool head. You can start by trying to teach your child to respect others' feelings. As a parent, you should always be the first to address any problem. This is the best way to prevent a behavioral disorder in your child.

When we find ourselves breaking down, the majority of the time it isn’t due to being sad. It’s because of frustration. The past year of my life has been full of so many frustrations that I found myself in the debate between breaking down and holding it all in. If you internalize it, you fill up and eventually explode. If you choose to breakdown, you’re overwhelmed with weakness. So which is the right choice?
