Probably my favorite of the series. Yes, it's a bit contrived. Sue me.

More than just an installation piece, this really forms a part of the museum experience I think, the letters and voices of immigrants bringing their stories alive, within this building that resonates with their histories.

documentation of a multi-sited installation project.

i am really interested in how context alters a piece of art and vice versa. i use the same group of objects within my installations, bringing in others found on site. the expectations and connotations brought to the piece are very different depending on the situation eg: a gallery, shop or outdoors. with this ongoing set of work i am interested in how this affects the reading of the piece.

* this installation was designed to be experienced at night outside. to be a kind of ellusive happening or mirage. however, after developing the photographs, i felt that the piece worked better in this second format.

what do people think about this, and the documentation becoming art thing?

I'm afraid I do have to question, however, what kind of name is Roxy, for a man? What could it be short for?

An attempt to map out all of the objects and materials significant to my creative process. Visitors were then invited to bring personal artifacts of their own to exchange from ones in the installation.

To stimulate three senses in this Sensory Space project I chose to use coffee and coffee beans to engage sense of smell; images and patterns to engage vision; music to engage hearing and cups with coffee to engage taste sense. I tried to arrange the beans and the pictures of the bloodshot eyes in a way that will make the room look much deeper, so I placed the eyes of a bigger size at the bottom and smaller ones at the top as the path made out of beans goes up and becomes smaller. By amplifying the depth of the room I wanted to show the depth of the coffee edict’s desire for the cup of coffee. The music of anticipation serves the same purpose. I also felt like my chosen space with the worn out floor and brownish color made the installation look like it really belonged there. It was really the perfect space!
