Bouldering today out at Higger Tor in the Peak District with some friends.. Lovely and warm, gentle breeze and some hard problems!
Taken from the western end of Higger Tor looking just west of north towards Stanage Edge. Unfortunately cloud drifted in and out of shot as I took the photos giving this colourful effect.
124 30 second exposures stacked using Startrails software.
A less processed version which has retained more detail in the trails.
One of my first proper shots with my new D7100 and Nikkor 10-24mm! Very happy with it so far, but I definitely need some practice to get used to all the new buttons!
This shot was taken the other evening on Hathersage moor. A view from Carl wark (some sort of ancient fort I gather!) over to Higger Tor, a part of the Peak District that remains in the Sheffield city boundaries!
Not the best view of the Northern Lights I have seen, but a jolly nice way to see in the New Year.
Happy New Year everyone.
Fill up your vehicle with fuel, turn off your Sat Nav and 'get lost' in t'Dales... views such as this are in abundance.

Higger Tor, from Longshaw, the Peak District, Derbyshire, looking into Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England.
Started off with some sunlight - but ended up with gale winds and rain which proved more interesting. 20 second exposure.

Still trying to chase the perfect combination of heather and sunlight - the heather is coming into full colour but the light is as fickle as ever.

A fantastic morning on Higger Tor when it all just comes together. Albeit briefly.
At first, with the hill cloaked in low cloud, it didn't look too promising. However, the sun managed to sneak below the cloud line briefly as it cleared the horizon, then light up the mist with quite breath taking effect.
One of those morning that serves as a reminder why I love landscape photography and the places I visit so much!
Looking from Burbage Edge across the Burbage Valley shortly after dawn. The Sun's light highlighting the gritstone outcrops of Carl Wark, Over Owler Tor and Higger Tor.
Can you identify where in Derbyshire this photo was taken?
(No prizes tho')
